The gist is if Udoka was double tech'd and sent off in multiple games, Ben Sullivan could win games comfortably with that assembled roster.
So by that logic I guess Kobe isn't a great player cuz all his rings he had HOF coach and big man right? Also had a HOF GM welp that's it Kobe sucks. The hoops y'all go thru just not to give Stone credit is hilarious. Who even signed on the Ime hiring? Oh OK but now by hiring the dude who fixed their issues that means Stone sucks. Lol wtf.
I like Sullivan and he obviously followed Ime here so of course he would be able to operate with the roster as it's assembled
The focus is on Stone who sells his rosters very well but then you open up the product and you see it is flawed and you were conned by a con master. It only works 80% and you have to buy an extension and another extension.
I don't think that anyone is jumping through hoops to not give Stone credit. Obviously we want him to be a good gm as it would significantly help the Rockets. Just don't see it as of yet.
He turned the Rox into a playoff team with a 21 yr old star and a lotto pick coming in the upcoming draft. When he got this team 3yrs ago he had fat suit Harden, the oldest team in the league and all their picks going to OKC and Clippers. If you still don't think he is a good GM you are honestly blind at this point. He isn't the best GM ever obviously but just looking at the big picture there's no way he didn't do a good job.
It is the same with Jeff Green and Holiday, they can last only a few games and then a few games, then they are too old or have no energy for the next few games..... He sells you on it because obviously Jeff and Holiday can play well in home games ......but they show up every 2 or 3 games... That is how he justifies going for cheap, overachieving players opposed to the circumstance that every normal NBA team is spending big on bench players nowadays. Rocketschamp is his shill guy....this 54 yr old GM is just not hungry.
@GOATuve you think this isn't jumping thru hoops? Green and Holiday sucks because they don't play like superstars and only play like good bench players. Also Stone sucks because other teams are spending big on bench players. Lol. Daywalker would rather spend 53M on Rui Hachimura than 8M on Jeff Green because spending big on bench is what good GMs do. Makes as much as sense as by having the foresight to sign one of the best coaches in Udoka Stone just proves how bad he is cuz now he can't win games without Udoka
I don't think he's a good gm so apparently that makes myself and quite a few others "blind" He has 3 top 5 picks. Looks like he missed on Green, no other option at 3 but Jabari so won't fault him there and Amen doesn't look good to say the least. He was forced to spend the money in the FA Market and got what was available. It's worked out but let's not forget he completely mismanaged the Lopez signing and whiffed on 3 first round picks who are all out of the league
You look silly rn. Nobody predicted we'd be above .500 at this point with our young guys buying in, and coach as a COY candidate. Most of you were complaining about us losing so much the last 3 seasons, now that we're winning its everybody's credit BUT Stone lol. You look stupid
My favorite part of the "Stone is a bad GM" narrative is when people point to Cam Whitmore as a win at #20, they say, "Yeah, but he fell into Stone's lap because all the other GMs were passing on him." So Stone was the one GM who saw enough in Cam NOT to pass on him, yet that's somehow seen as accidental. Some of you guys should be posting on MentalGymnasticsFans.net instead of here.
Stone laid out his plan and has stuck to it. He is actually competing a year earlier than expected. He has done a great job and we still have the flexibility and assets to take the next step. His drafting has been excellent even if green doesn’t pan out. Cade and Mobley are no great shakes either and he got the best player in that draft by trading up to 16. Jabari, amen, Tari, cam were all great picks.
Right. Don't forget that as all-time great as Kareem was, he wasn't exactly a ray of sunshine with other players. There's no rule that says you have to be nice on the court.
It feels like an act though, because why would you do that in your first year, you have many more years to do that stuff...... Especially when he presented himself as a ray of sunshine in Pre-draft, talking about French cuisine, culture and how he loves to smile and that sort of stuff. Networking with your fellows can bring camaraderie.....it is definitely worth it in the long haul. Personally thinking it is because of losing, he would not do that if the Spurs were just 14-20....
I'd have to watch that entire game to be sure, but I'm willing to bet there was some minor beef during the game. Giannis can be a real dick when it comes to slamming into guys to draw fouls, and then whining about calls on him.
