That's not from the horses mouth. This is basic writing. The title says "hears*. So when a claim in the article says there is a video of said thing it is implied that they "heard" of a video of it existing. It's a way to deny spreading propaganda but being technically correct that they are only spreading information of what they heard rather than what the saw. The title would not say "hears" because if the author of the article physically saw these videos of rape they would t type "hears" in their article title.
I'm going to need more than Israeli officials sending pictures to journalists as evidence. The NYT has a history of taking Israeli government rhetoric at face value as true.

Let's go with a NYT report that doesn't say they "heard" of sexual violence, but rather "verified" it. Should I be skeptical of this because the NYT doesn't say how they verified it? That makes it seem like the NYT reporters saw evidence. Is that good enough to assert that Hamas raped women on October 7?

That inherently will always lead to evil acts not because they are Jews, because the state of Israel is a war machine that is trying to maintain a status quo system. No group of humans are immune to the highs and narcissism that comes with having that type of power dynamic. It is an inevitability of humans, not Jews to act like this to preserve a status quo system. It's a core premise of why anarchists believe in what they do. That hierarchies and systems of power inherently corrupts and removes basic empathy from those who hold that power.
What I took away from your comments is that any footage or testimony supplied by the Israeli government, even if it's interviews with emergency responders, attack survivors, etc., shouldn't be trusted because the Israeli government has an interest in lying about the severity of violence on October 7. That would mean that the people on video are acting and the images are edited or staged, would it not? My use of sarcasm in the post was to show absurd this position is and how demeaning it is to people who lived through October 7. It's also the same line of thinking that people use to waive away civilian death tolls in Gaza because agencies reporting those figures are connected to Hamas.
