yes We also apparently have 6 alternates: CJ Stroud, Nico Collins, Will Anderson, Jonathan Greenard, Derek Stingley, Andrew Beck
Next years football season will be one of the most anticipated years I can remember for myself. I just cant help looking ahead and expecting some natural growth from our young stars coupled with some exciting free agent acquisitions. DeMeco now has bulletin board material about no respect for this team or its players and how the snubs in the Pro Bowl is in their hands to remedy. Shiiiiit and this season isnt even over!! Dynasty upcoming fellas Im telling y'all.
If we can keep our key FA, get a WR, DT and a CB from this yrs draft that can contribute next yr and bring in Saquon Barkley and Hollywood Brown, we can seriously contend next yr.
Im not sure Im going to sign a WR and then draft a WR at the same time. Personally I kinda like our WR room. When Tank was healthy everything looked better so we may be falling victim to some recency bias, but Im totally fine giving CJ more weapons dont get me wrong. If Saquon is coming on the cheap cool, but his injury history is still something to consider. I may rather take a 3rd round flyer on a RB this draft and bring back Singletary if Saquon is looking for 'star' money. I think the team building preference among the fans will be fun and we can all have some ideas that make sense. Ultimately CJ makes his WRs better. He makes the whole offense better. We should really address the OL and get that unit shored up. DT is probably where I would focus my energy with free agent money or the 1st pick of the draft, but that is just my own fan vision. Just really pumped up about the future of this team everything just feels right. No weirdo pastor running around trailing players. No psycho ego maniacal coach/GM. Smart football people up and down while the owner(s) stay out of the way.
It depends on what WRs are available in the draft or free agency. If you were to tell me we lost Noah Brown and Robert Woods but gained Mike Evans and Brian Thomas Jr, I'd be happy with that. Also, I think Saquon injuries are overblown. I had that one ACL injury where he only played two games. 2021: 13 games played (wasn't cleared to begin the year) 2022: 16 games played 2023: Will finish with 14 games played
True. I guess I just dont view Barkley as that much of an improvement over Singletary especially if the price will be high. This draft is LOADED with wideouts. In my own amatuer assessment of the team I just dont see WR being as big a need as some other areas.
Saquon fits the offense like CMC does in SanFran. Maybe not as effective with 21 TDs but I could very well see 13-14. I could see 1100 rushing yards and 300 receiving yards. Not saying we should be the No.1 target, because of the price tag, but if he's having trouble signing with a team, give him a call. He'd be switching teams after 6 seasons just like CMC.
I think almost any zone system RB could find success on this team if Singletary just emulated Saquons season behind this offensive line. If Saquon is not breaking the bank Im game, but if he's looking for superstar money I just cant. I'd much rather just bring in a rookie RB with fresh legs and shore up the offensive line. According to Spotrac Saquons current market value would be for 2-3 years at 6M per season https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-giants/saquon-barkley-25097/market-value/ ... if he chooses Houston over other opportunities at that rate lets do it.
They have rz issues because as I said in another thread talent trumps scheme in tight spaces. This is why the biggest need is to add play makers that can win one on one battles in the rz. Guys like Thomas and Benson would be ideal as well as a guy like Stover to pair with Schultz at TE. You would really start to see Stroud shine and there wouldn't be 4-5 FG games. The ol will be fine when they get healthy. Although I'm not against adding another ol. Just not with a high pick.
Skill guys are not what we need most IMO. DT/OL should be a priority. If anything play calling turns suspect in the red zone. CJ is middle of the pack in red zone passing, but thats fine as a rookie. If you could trot out a legitimate top 10 OL you could run anyone in the backfield with the attention CJ commands in the passing game. Adding to Shultz is fine, but I dont see Stover as an upgrade to Brevin Jordan personally. Its going to be fun watching it all shake out.
We see things totally differently. Look at the ol injuries and tell me that they wouldn't be fine if they were healthy. We haven't seen them healthy all year long. They need another edge and could use another DT. But I'm higher on Tartt than most. Look at the top teams in the league and tell me what their RB's look like compared to Singletary? The thought of a trio of WR's like Collins, Tank,Thomas and a RB like Benson pretty much assures more rz TD's vs FG and that's the biggest weakness on the team. IMHO Stover is a much more well rounded, better TE than Jordan ever will be, plus he is the healthier player. I would make a case that Stover is a better blocker than Schultz. Plus Stroud is already familiar with Stroud. Anyways adding these guys would give badly needed depth and playmaking to this offense and would allow continued growth from Stroud.
