Im pounding the table for Brian Thomas Jr if he is available at the Cleveland pick. I think the guy is a match up nightmare given his size and speed and he has the production. I think he compares to AJ Green. Putting him with Stroud for the next half decade on the cheap seems like a no brainer to me given what else might be there.
28 Brian Thomas Jr WR LSU 50 T'Vondre Sweat DT Texas 91 Kiran Amegadjie OT Yale 118 Cade Stover TE Ohio State 128 Christian Jones OT Texas 232 Nehemiah Pritchett CB Auburn 234 Demani Richardson S TAMU 242 Jaylen Wright RB Tennessee
Nice! Couldnt help yourself with a tight end could ya! I would rather FA sign/trade for a WR1 than take a late 1st rounder personally, but Brian Thomas Jr has some exciting skills.
Rather not give up anything to move up to top 10 from 28. Would cost either another 1st next year + 3rd, or two 2nd rounds and a 3rd/4th. Since it'll be obvious who the Texans would pick, there'll be competition and Texans will get taken to the gutters.
I like this guy. He wraps up on every tackle, has decent speed and seems very discipline. Hope he is around in the later rounds.
Really like this. hits just about every need Thomas might be the best receiver we can get at our spot. I know Egbuka is enticing to pair back with stroud, but we already have Dell that plays a similar position. Need a speedy sideline WR with height for red zone to pair opposite Nico with Dell. Stroud will make any WR we get better too. As far as getting the most out of pairing with Stroud (since we can’t get MHJ) Cade Stover fills a need and will play better than his draft position thanks to CJ. Only change I would make is switching one of the OT spots with a RB and using the final RB pick on a DL/Edge/LB because I feel like our last pick should be a defensive front 7 guy that has potential but is raw because Demeco can possibly work magic vs an offensive guy that we need Slowik to train up.
Do you think Nabers will be a true X at the the next level or more of a slot guy? His route running is sharp for sure. I’m not entirely sure if Nabers can be the true X we need.
He’s legit. I like his playmaking ability after the catch and with CJ’s elite arm/accuracy I think that would be a deadly addition to the offense.
The WR you're describing is Xavier Legette from South Carolina. I like Stover as well. Would love to get Sweat and/or Trice as well, but this seems like too much to ask for.
Hahaha. Dude, I literally went right to the internet to look up some combine type stats for all the WR coming out this year (top like 10-15).. I came away thinking - XAVIER LEGETTE IS THE GUY I WANT. Lol. I also could be talked into Troy Franklin or I guess Brian Thomas if all of them go too fast.. but yes, Legette is my dream get. Over all of them except MHJ (obvs). If Egbuka can be more of an X then maybe, but I would see him as more a Metchie replacement and would rather look elsewhere. Who knows. Yea I think Stover could be a sneaky pick.
Agree. I'd rather keep some of those top picks next year. You never know when you get a diamond in the rough until you do. The more picks we can use, the more players we can fill holes with in the future when guys don't work out, get injured, or leave in free agency.
I'm convincing myself Leggette is another Tank type receiver who is perfect for an accurate QB who anticipates well. Throw in a bit more height and Schultz type hands to rip back contested balls and we have another weapon for CJ, particularly in a red zone situation. PFF Xavier Legette - WR South Carolina - Height: 6 - 3 | Weight: 227 | RAS: N/A Calling Xavier Legette a late-bloomer seems like an understatement. Legette wasn't on anyone's radar in the NFL Draft world aside from his explosive kick return potential. The 6'3", 227-pound receiver is a height/weight/speed anomaly who will receive more than a few DK Metcalf comps during the draft process. He's unbelievably explosive. In fact, he'll likely be one of the fastest player at the draft, even at nearly 230 pounds. And he doesn't turn like a cruise ship as a route runner, either. But his most impressive attribute is his high-point ability and vice grip hands in contested and aerial situations. Dalton Miller 12/2/2023 Draft Buzz Generally reliable receiver capable of making difficult catches in traffic over the middle or one on one down the sideline. Legette accelerates 0-to-60 and hits top speed fast enough to outrun angles. He’s also flexible and agile, able to keep the pedal to the floor as Legette turns and weaves. He has a tapered build and strong hands, ripping the ball back with ease when defensive backs manage to get a hold of it. Shines on vertical routes, eating up a cushion with long strides, and getting downfield before DBs can turn their hips. He has a great combination of size, athleticism, and body control. Thriving on physicality, he’s a contested-catch specialist with a knack for warding off defenders while the ball is in the air. Legette has strong hands and the ability to wrestle the ball away from defenders. Good quickness off the line. Has size and quickness to get off NFL press. Has elite balance tight-roping the sideline and in-and-out of his breaks, showing excellent start-stop ability and burst.
Brevyn Spann-Ford also looks intriguing as a day 3 pick up. as a situational role receiver. I think he makes a good decoy or check down option who can't be ignored. 6'7" TE. PFF Has extremely good, soft, natural hands. Consistently makes the clean catch. Soft hands. Flashes good to very good tracking and overall body control to make catches outside of his frame. Good strength and effort to run through arm tackles. He’s very good in contested-catch situations, using his frame effectively to make plays facing the quarterback. Spann-Ford also shows a knack for high-pointing the ball, consistently outmuscling defensive backs. Spann-Ford fights his way off the line of scrimmage against press coverage, showing quick, violent hands and good balance. Knee-bend and technique are good and Spann-Ford shows decent power when his hands hit the target. This is the type of receiver I think CJ makes better than his college stats would suggest. The question is can he run a sharp route tree.
I've been beating the table for him since about week 2 of the college season. Watched him dominate a few teams and that was all I needed to see.
I think Nabers can be elite in the slot, yes he can play outside but just doesn't fit the mold for me at the next level. Cons - can get stuck at the line - release isn't smooth - deep "route running" has been inconsistent - not prototypical X size Pros - sharp movements - great hands - catches in traffic - excellent acceleration - huge YAC "Long" speed not comparable to MHJ or Odunze.
I don’t see anyone talking about safety. That seems to me to be our weakest position given Ward’s inability to stay on the field this year. What does the draft stock look like?
