I am also from Turkey.I just posted it because the translation sounds funny. Btw in this case the comments were not because of his play but because he posted pro Atatürk posts on X.

Of course he has a lot of fans but a lot of Turkish fans are also insanely critical. Even in games where alpi scores 30 points you will find very critical comments on Instagram, Ekşi Sözlük and so on. It's not like Filipinos with Kai Sotto. You will never find Turkish fans hyping up Cedi Osman.

It would be different to hear from a Turkish guy who is not his fan or neutral to him and I am sure there are lots of those but not willing to join here.

As I understand it, Cedi is not full Turkish, he is part Macedonian, isn't he....

Cedi is pure Turk, he was born in Macedonia (or Jugoslavia at that time may be) but these lands were part of Turkish Empires since Attila the Hun time - or his predecessors, father Muncuk/Boncuk, Rua,..)

Cedi decided to be celebrity, model girlfriend, head and shoulders ads, and costed the nation two important games (one against USA, the other against France). No one wants to see him to wear Crimson and White jersey again. Otherwise Cedi is one of 230.000.000 Turks worldwide.

No that's not the reason. They just don't like bad players and have very high expectations from Turkish athletes. I would even say toxic sometimes because sports is extremely important to Turks. They get outright depressed if Turkish athletes or teams don't perform well.

I would say that the majority likes him and is very excited to have a young talent again (last one was enes freedom lol) but like I said they are not complete homers. Comparing him to players like Mehmet Okur is still considered a taboo for example.

First : Not everything correct in Wikipedia, you have to cross check
Second :Balkan is a Turkish word (wooden mountain), Novi Pazar should be adapted name for Yeni Pazar. Turkish/Turkic existence there is much deeper than outsiders anticipate.
Third: Most of the Balkans were full of Turks such as Bulgars is a Turkish tribe, not slavic. Slavs were gathered under the banner of King Asparuch and Sisman Khan. Sisman means chubby
Fourth : Greatest Turk Ataturk was born and educated Macedonia, Salonika is a Macedonian city (don't worry about Greek hysteria) as Manastir where he went to school. It doesn't make Ataturk Macedonian.
I am originally a Sabir(Sibir) Turk where the name Siberia comes from but it does not make me/my family Russian.

Cedi is a Turkish man but not fulfilled his potential. Enes Freedom was a Turkish citizen but not ethnically Turk. That's the difference. Kanter does not make any sense in Turkish (the closest meaning is - man of sugary hot water-rubbish) and he had no difficulty to change surname /citizenship. I don't care about the struggles between two lunatic religion sects - don't know which one was worst-but comparing Freedom to any NBA player (whether Turk or not) is an insult for the second party.

It was from a Serbian article, let's not dwell on it lol.....an article would not lie and who cares if he is mother is Serbian or Bosniak really, he is not my relative that I care.....but yeah it really does not matter.

Ethnically Balkans are seen as South Slavic that thing I know of taught us in history class at school......

actually and Turks are Turks...(Ottoman empire)

He is a Turk because most kids follow their fathers instead of their mothers when growing up in two cultures.

And you cannot possibly track the mother's line if there is pure Turkish line.

    3. Maturity. 30/30 games played. Playing through aches, pains, and sickness. Franchise pillar to build on.
Such a damn fun season to watch thus far. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of Jabari and Jalen. Go Rockets!
