360k white people died to free slaves but yet we talk white privilege to this day. Feel free to subtract out the nonsensical argument of minorities who fought in the war.
I finally saw the video of Haley’s respond and her “correction”. Cringe worthy. What the hell does it even mean that for today the civil War means personal Freedom?
how did she manage the aftermath of the shooting in a black church, and the subsequent call to remove the confederate battle flag from the state capitol?
It sounds very much like the personal freedom to own slaves. I'm not sure how else to interpret it. It's pretty crazy for a politician to leave it up in the air like that, almost as if she really believes what she said.
it was a gotcha question, but yes, she could have managed her answer better. is this what you want to focus on this cycle?
She’s a dumbass, as has been proven over and over. no surprsise you’re going for the dick cheneys again..you’re a slow learner bro
Was it really a gotcha question? I mean, it seems pretty straightforward to answer. I think it's important to know if a candidate is too scared to answer basic questions. What does it say about how they would respond to actual difficult things? A campaign is a big giant long job interview. Sometimes interviewers give you softball questions to judge basic competence...
A criticism of haley is that she doesn't have any principles and will only say what she thinks will get her the most support, and especially from maga supporters. Do I think she is racist, or ignorant to the true cause of the civil war? No. But instead of simply acknowledging he bad answer, admitting she misspoke, and clarifying her answer would have been the much better recovery than to her attempt to placate magas with the "freedom" misdirect. If she is simply running to be trump's vp choice, she will keep on her current path. But if she is a candidate for the presidency, she needs to campaign against trump and that means staking out how she is different.
he is projecting, its a difficult question for him. Yes yes we know there were other issues between the north and the south, but even the PhD history professor I remember from 15 years ago conceded it
Heh... it was no more of a "gotcha" question than when palin was asked about newspapers she reads or when trump was asked what his favorite book in the Bible. The embarrassment about not being able to answer these simple questions isn't a gotcha...
she is not a political neophyte such as Obama (at the time), or Trump, were. she has a long record in public office at the local, state, and national level, which is more than enough to judge her competence. She may not be the most qualified candidate in history, but she is the most qualified candidate in 2024, taking all factors into account, including background, as well as her command of basic mental capacity, which will challenge the other two. Competence > (in)continence.
Again, she pre-rehearses everything to be in line with the donors and establishment. Its not a surprise she faces difficulty with stuff like this. Vivek demonstrated it clearly here...seriously look at her face
"the true cause of the civil war" is not a conversation we can have in public in the current environment. she tried to finesse it, and blew it. it happens. if you question her principles, you should go back and review her record, as governor, and at the UN.
