I 100% believe Sengun will be "level 3" by the time he is 24.

Lol. I need to learn how to say “sit on my face” in every language and I’ll be fine.

This Sengun thread should turn into stripper talk now.

Arguing about franchise player is meaningful if we are discussing the future of the team because you definitely need a Level 3 franchise player to win a championship.

Some posters (e.g. ATW) is sure that Sengun will be Level 3 franchise guy. So the number 1 priority is to build the team around him and maximize the Sengun-centric roster.

Other poster (e.g. Nook) does not believe Sengun as a franchise player is already a reality. Therefore, until we find one or Sengun or any of our young guys becomes one, we will still be stuck in mediocrity. Since our tanking window has been closed, if none of our draft picks is a Level 3 franchise player, then there is really no way to get one unless one of those becomes disgruntled and wants out from his current team.

Jokic is a Top 3 player in this league but physically limited af but he sees the game like a master chess player.

All I can say is Jokic' team cannot dominate a regular season.....that is probably a fact.... but he can win a title being the 3rd or 4th best team.....like Hakeem won one as the 6th seed.

I think those players come in all size and shapes, and for Jokic to succeed they surrounded him with 2-3 borderline All Stars.

And they have the Altitude advantage in the Playoffs going for them.

It is very difficult to say what Alperen would need because he cannot shoot like Jokic but can dunk better than him and dream shake better than him?

It is not apparent at all. All you can do is observe him year by year.....I do not even know what he will become, maybe he is better than Magic, Kareem and Bill Russell and is the 3rd GOAT.

Or he stays being an All Star.

It is hard becoming a good player, but it is the hardest getting from good or very good to absolute legendary......you have to go through years of Playoffs......grinding it out like the absolutely last mofo....

Don't mind my long post, in a nutshell, it is easier to build a team around Anthony Edwards or Haliburton than around Alperen Sengün, that is for sure.

That comes with perimeter players being more mold-able when they go supernova.

But Stone is up to the challenge, I heard.

Y'all are actually crazy. Nobody's being racist towards Sengun, put down the crack pipe. It's just such a bizarre narrative you're trying to spin, I guarantee you that to most people he's just perceived as a white guy, hardly the target for some big racial conspiracy you loon.

Yeah, me and some other posters pointed out last year that building around a guy like Sengun needed to go all in. You have to commit to surrounding players that fit him on both ends. I think that's why Sengun fans are so excited when Jokic won a championship. It doesn't mean that Sengun will be Jokic 2.0. It just means that a non-conventional franchise player can win IF you recognize his talent and commit to building around him.

A part of me always want to see conventional thinking proven to be wrong. I guess that's why I also want teams led by Jokic or Sengun to be successful. The Curry led Warriors broke the thinking that you needed a dominant big man to win. (They also showed that you don't need a 7-foot rim protector to be a good defensive team.) Now Jokic has broken the Warriors model and brought back the dominant big man game. It's just not the same kind of big man.

What kind of players does Sengun need that any other player doesn’t need? I mean that as a compliment of Sengun. Offensively at least. All you need is smart players that move and can make open shots. If we had two elite shooters next to him it would be impossible to double without getting killed by 3s. So I guess the focus is 3 and D, but isn’t that the ideal players you look for next to any star?

defensively, a big like Jabari but stronger. In a few years, hopefully Jabari physically develops into a strong enough player to fit perfectly next to Sengun.

Claim racism? I don't think more than one or two posters said such nonsense.

    Good question.

You do need smart players on offense. While you always need smart players, it is even more so for a center-initiated offense. Players need to be able to read and react on the fly. You also need to know how to get the big man the ball. That's probably why Jalen is struggling. With a guard-oriented offense, you can just stand and wait for the guy to break down the defense and pass you the ball. Smart is less important.

On defense, because Sengun is not a tall jumping jack kind of big man, you need good perimeter defenders and you need a quick big to be able to erase defensive mistakes. I know a lot of people are wanting a good back up center. I do too. But if your most important player is the center, you want to play him heavy minutes and his back up is not as important as if your center is interchangeable with any defensive big.

I always hear about shooters, really who were the shooters in the past.....Ariza, Prince Luc, CP3, Eric Gordon.....others had Korver and Redick.

People are speculating one thing but really the GM did other things.....

This dead eye shooter discussion has not aged at all.

To this day I still think the Jokic led Nuggets were one of the worse teams that won the Championship, Joker has to do a lot to make me think otherwise, probably I would.

Dirk also led me to believe it. Maybe because the supporting cast had so many above average names.

The thing that is hard to wrap ones head around is Sengun's shortcomings aligning directly with 2 of the the important things in the modern NBA, shooting and ability to easily reach high levels around the rim.

As somebody who has always liked him, but never thought he could be a true alpha level player, I still find it hard to believe he will be that guy. However I can acknowledge that regardless of what I think his ceiling is, he's been amazing and has a very real chance to be the best player on a playoff team at age 21. While not a sure fire sign of top 5/10 type player, he's a star and will likely be deserving of a max contract.

Anybody saying he will be that level of player has all the scoreboard they could possibly want right now.
