No we don't we have enough players now, and enough picks, just let him go.

This idea that other clubs are fooled into believing that Jalen has more value, just because he is starting is mostly bullocks!
I dont think most GM's are so naïve as to not see his value, merely by watching his game.

The only thing it shows is that either:

    1) The Rockets see something in him they do not.
    2) The Rockets dont, and are throwing away games needlessly by not moving him to the bench.

But even if there is a GM out there that believes 1), its probably due to not paying close attention.
Any team considering trading for him is going to pay that extra attention. So the only way for our FO or that of another team to come to a positive conclusion regarding JG's future, is faith.

And I think for our FO, its as much that we spent a #2 pick on him as it is that they have faith in him.
And the faith part, for any intelligent person has to be waning heavily at this point.

Kinda sounds like it’s taking bad shots? Idk coach didn’t seem to mention bad defense or effort. Weird.

Exactly. Thats what it boils down to. He simply isnt good enough. Sengun was in the same system and treated worse and he came out a better player.

Because he wasn't asked why he benched Jalen, so he didn't mention poor defense or effort. The question was specifically about Jalen's offensive woes.

That's a terrible line of thinking. You're advocating giving away a player we spent the second pick on for nothing? I get you hate him but that's not an intelligent basketball decision nor anything Houston will consider doing. You have to be rational even though you hate Green

The bolded is what my biggest fear is - that he is the type of immature player who is butthurt that his status as a #2 overall pick now means jack sh*t because his teammate drafted later in the same draft is now unequivocally the face of the franchise and embarrassing him in the skill and effort department on a nightly basis.

There's a real famous song by Kenny Rogers which has some sage advice regarding the Jalen Green situation.

You are right that inefficiency should decrease Jalen’s minutes, but the only more efficient Jalen on this roster is going to be himself playing smarter.

guys who came out of the g-league draft are all terrible at basketball fundamentals and just very low bbiq

that whole thing is a failed experiment

I'm finding the Jalen bust scenario much easier to deal with if I remind myself that we got the #2 pick for sucking hard for a year. So at worst, we sucked that year for nothing. Sad, but if it comes to that, we can move on. Our suckage in the two years afterward seems to be paying off.

The other way to look at it is to think we drafted Alpi at 2 and Jalen at 16. Probably best player available at that position in hindsight.

Love this way of looking at it. Maybe we need an "If Jalen were the #16 pick ..." thread. Would the same people be as disgusted with him? Would they be as hot to trade him?

Or people's patience would have long worn out and he'd be getting 15 minutes a game by the coaches because he doesn't have the prestige of being the number 2 pick.

No, because if he was the 16th pick he'd have been banished to the bench and playing spot minutes long ago.

I can't count how many times I've yelled, "Shoot it!" when he receives a pass with an open look and he either dribbles away or passes it.

    Make the call Ime...

This is why I keep saying we need to stop thinking about the player we thought we drafted and just focus on what Jalen the current Rockets player needs to get better. I think the support of his coach and teammates will be important- but not as a punitive thing if he needs to run with 2nd units. Jalen has to buy into his teammates’ capacity to help him and the team has to embrace lifting him up because honestly - they ALL need the best version of Jalen and his value is so low, it isn’t coming from a trade selling trading nickels for a dollar.
