Released from "prison"...on $300 bail?...on misdemeanors? Former Army, dishonorably discharged, and then...this will shock you...there were mental health issues that went ignored Salazar also said James was involved in several previous incidents where deputies were called to the family's house to intervene. He said James, whom he described as a former member of the military, struggled with mental health issues for years. Army spokesman Bryce Dubee confirmed to ABC News that James served as an infantry officer from February 2013 to August 2015. His records, according to Dubee, showed James had no deployments and separated from the service on Aug. 17, 2015, with the rank of first lieutenant. Salazar said that on Jan. 6, 2022, James was arrested on three misdemeanor counts stemming from an alleged assault on his parents and a sibling. "The family stated that James does not belong in jail, that he has mental health issues," Salazar said. He said James was released from jail on March 7, 2022, after a judge reduced his bond from $500 on each misdemeanor count to $100 on each account and relaxed restrictions on him from having no contact with his parents or siblings to having no threatening or harmful contact with them. Salazar said that as part of James' release, he was required to wear an ankle monitoring device. He said a day after James was released from jail, he cut off his ankle monitoring device, prompting misdemeanor warrants to be issued for his arrest. Salazar said the last time his deputies had contact with James was in August when they were called to the family's home again. He said James' father asked deputies to intervene, claiming his "son was naked, he was acting out, had a mental health episode and was upstairs in his bedroom." He said deputies tried to talk James into coming out of his room but were limited by law in what they could do because James was only wanted at the time on misdemeanor warrants. "They were making every effort to avoid a violent confrontation," Salazar said of his deputies, adding that at the time, James was unarmed and yelling derogatory comments at the deputies. Salazar said that as deputies stood by, James' father partially forced open his son's bedroom door, which was blocked by a bed, and deputies could see James lying naked on a bed. Unable to get James to come out of the room, the deputies left the house and asked the father to call them if he came out of the room, Salazar said. He said the father never called back. "I wish we could have been able to get him into custody," Salazar said. This is where the Evil Jew Soros Organization comes into play: Through our justice program, we bailed out James in coordination with the Bexar County’s public defender’s office, nearly two years ago in February 2022 on misdemeanor charges where his bond fees totaled $300.
There are probably a half a million "mentally ill" or "dangerous radicals" who own guns in this country. I'd guess the biggest percent of them own assault weapons legally. That's fine with the NRA, the gun distributors, and the politicians who reap their rewards. They don't want assault weapons banned. They are against mandatory training and licensing for guns, they don't want the FBI to monitor nutjobs or extremists on social media, and they don't want stricter gun laws. The freedom to kill in mass is made easier thanks to the greedy and wicked.
But but that would require more stringent laws regarding guns. No... he was a professor. That makes him a lib. Colleges. Woke.
What's even sadder is knowing that this is just one dead kid of many, that there will be many, many more to come, and we're only reading about this because it happened over Christmas gifts.
Zero actually. The 23-year-old was killed, the 14-year-old who shot her survived. He and his 15-year-old brother that shot him are both detained.
I'm sure that family will mourn the lack of background checks on private party transfers or an assault weapon ban every year on 12/25. I'm sure if there had just been some commonsense gun control, neither of those angels would have had a handgun at ages 14 or 15 and would have never killed their sister. Not a behavioral issue at all, it is about the gun laws.
It is both. It is ridiculous that 2 kids could so easily access handguns and ridiculous that the adults didn't do more to prevent it.
We'll never know, because gun nuts like you oppose even the most reasonable solutions, including those suggested by law enforcement and the vast majority of Americans.
MAGA conservatives don't care! Steve Bannon Pushing Guns for Children in Schools as CONSERVATIVES cheer Bannon broadcast an episode of his podcast from Turning Point USA's America Fest, during which he advocated for American children to receive firearms training in school, arguing that possessing guns would also help them combat bullying, a suggestion that drew cheers from the conservative crowd at the event.
Not scary? Here you go... https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/interactive/2023/ar-15-force-mass-shootings/
The probability is extremely high that he would have eventually killed someone, if not multiple people later on if this tragedy didn't happen. He now has to live with this action. The parent should be in prison.
All semi-automatic weapons are devastating...I'm not quite sure if you're aware of that. Gun culture in America is the problem, not guns. You're also probably not aware of that.
