Jaquez taken at #18 and Podziemski at #19 would both be starting over Jalen Green now… Too bad we had #20… Whitmore is a top-level talent, but seems to be more of a project…
that’s ridiculous! Both of them are starting now for their very good teams. Green is playing like total trash, by eye test and by all metrics. If we had Jaquez or Podziemski on the roster and they were not starting over Green, then the organization and coaching staff would be laughingly incompetent. your post was extremely stupid. be better.
Again…simply silly coaching from Udoka to watch Jalen consistently suck yet not give this man a single chance.
I think Udoka needed to tear down Greens bad habits, in order to rebuild him into an elite player. In the past Udoka has benched Green and it’s worked. Ime is working on Greens mental endurance, and that is why he is still prancing him as a starter; it’s about testing his resolve. I would absolutely not cut tie with Green this year or next, because he has those special abilities; however Jalen Green may be too weak mentally to deal with NBA adversity. But if Ime is still going to him, it means that Ime still sees the special ability that made Green a #2 overall pick. However, as a fan I am coming to grips that Green may be just another rotation player without the “IT factor”. I am very glad that Cam Whitmore is in the Roster to assume his rightful role in case Green crashes and burns his opportunity. Though I always figure Whitmore would step in as a SF guy, however SG may suit him fine.
He has to that’s his job to instill confidence in someone the franchise invested a second overall pick in. Thats why players love him - but unfortunately I don’t think he can fix Jalen (at least not this season). if he does there will be the feel good story as Ime is the best coach ever - but Jalen is who he is at the point and it doesn’t fit The mode for the team Ime wants (or the one he had in Boston)
Cam has great BBall IQ - his handles are very high, his ability to get to an open spot and present himself as an available target is good, he needs to learn to trust others just like Hakeem, Kobe and MJ did..... Cam is special....jalen is not. DD
I don't mind Ime's handling of Green. It seems fair. He's reducing his minutes when he plays badly while still giving him the starter title rather than just wrecking him by saying "well, you've played badly for the first 1/3 of the season, so you're just going to be a 2nd stringer". He benches people throughout the game for playing badly. If they play badly enough, they lose minutes in the 4th quarter, too. They're still starters, but only in name. I think it may be, like you said, he still sees something in Jalen, but more importantly, doesn't want to squash it by saying "you doing bad, you no start no more - you doing good you start now" type of neandertal coaching every other game. He reduces minutes of starters within games to give them a wake-up call to let them know they need to improve. He did it to Jabari, Alpi, Jalen, etc. He's giving Jalen time to prove he can still play and improve. With Jabari and Alpi, they do more than just score. With Jalen, that's what he does, so either he acquires some other skills or he improves on his efficiency. The problem is we don't know how long that leash is. Not to mention, Ime/the FO doesn't want to wreck whatever trade value Jalen may have down the road. lol. With Cam, I agree if Jalen keeps playing like this, he may get some minutes, but it doesn't look like Ime's comfortable with that yet. Maybe it's because Cam doesn't know what he's doing on the court yet to run with the starters and Ime doesn't want to blow up the continuity (yes, even with a malfunctioning Jalen). But he doesn't even feel comfortable with Cam with the bench team as an offensive spark plug. I'm guessing it's just because Cam still has a lot to work on like defensive rotations, for example, and where to be when in a play or on defensive rotations. I can understand Cam's not getting starter minutes. I think the logjam he spoke of kind of starts when we get to the bench and ask why can't he get bench minutes. Ime's already stated he would rather give a few guys more minutes than have a 10-man rotation or something out there, and with our lack of backups to Alpi forcing Jock Landale to play, Amen and Holiday almost having to play just to give FVV a breather, Jeff Green playing pretty well most of the time when he plays - even as backup center, etc., you're almost running 10-11 guys out there, which can't be what Ime wants. Then you have Cam.
the problem is if you go to cam and he succeeds it is over for jalen i mean it is over so gotta stay with jalen until at least the trade deadline and then go from there cam should get a shot at some point this year to show what he got
You aren't looking at this the right way. It's far more important to find a solution at SG than to increase Jalen's trade value.
This is not a 'problem' worth worrying about. As you stipulate here it is based on Cam succeeding. Not every draft pick pans out. If Cam coming in and being the real deal this soon finishes Green then so be it. In this scenario we would have hit on Cam, Tari, Jabari and Al-p with the jury out on Amen.
And you’ve learned all this watching Cam as 6th man in college and a few games at RGV? Or have you been following him since Jr. High.
Before we trade Jalen we need to see Cam play at least. Cam has better handles, shooting, size and more physical in the paint better than Jalen
Who is "we"? Ime/The Rockets know if he can play and what his negatives and positives are. Keyboard jockeys like us are ignorant of 90% of what's going on in the organization and 5% of the other 10% is us guessing. People act like Ime doesn't see these guys every day or get reports back from RGV.
So what? The team gets better....and we just toss Jalen away and let him find somewhere he can develop, no need to screw the rest of the team because they are ready to move forward and he isn't. You can see it on film but I have been following and seen him in person - but he definitely has a very high bball IQ, when running plays he is setting people up while running the plays, that is next level stuff....his handle is great, his finishing is great, he is going to be a great player.....not sure how great but way better than Jalen ever will be.
