Tari is a good enough shooter. His TS% is lower than expected because he smokes a lot of layups, I don’t consider it a huge issue though because he tends to get a lot of his own rebounds for the put back. He would absolutely be better fit for the starting group and Holiday.
So you think that applies to any bench player or just bench players who'd be taking the spot of Jalen Green?
Tari's finishing needs work (layups...MOMSTER's newspaper is needed) - but his FG% has already gone up and he is shooting close to 40% on threes (third best on the team).
Tari would probably become an even better shooter in the starting lineup since he would get more spot ups playing off Sengun. Tari is shooting 39% from three. What brings down his TS% is that he smokes so many layups. The funny things about arguments like yours though is that the starting lineup minus Jalen plus Tari is miles better as far as Net rating which is ultimately a better barometer of winning games.
If you watch games you'd know that Tari's restriction in terms of 3 point shooting is that he basically only take 3s that aren't wide open. Yes if you look at just his stat you see a gaudy 3pt%, but it's so obviously clear when you watch flow of games that he's not nearly the 3pt shooter that Jabari, FVV, and Dillon Brooks are, which is why he takes so few of them. And the fact that he's blowing layups being looked at as a positive thing or something by the people responding to my post is kinda hilarious. Like that's somehow a point in his favor. If Udoka is giving Eason only 21mpg, and using Uncle Jeff in place of Jalen Green even in a game where he pulled Jalen, I'm going to trust him to know what he's doing.
It applies to Tari, not all bench players and, NO, I'm not a Jalen defender. LOL, this forum is funny. I just got accused of not valuing Jalen enough and then you come along.
I don't even know what this means. Well I know what it means as you wrote it, but I'm trying to see if you meant to say what you said.
What makes Tari different from other bench players that get elevated other than the fact that he'd be taking Jalen's spot?
This really has never been a discussion, but if you insist in waiting for an entire season of data, then we should have gone into this season starting Eason, as his defense and offensive contributions have been higher than Green's since the beginning of last season. Green has never been a plus defender, he's never been an efficient scorer, and there's never been signs that this would change. This "debate" has been dead for a while. Unfortunately fans of inefficient play are pretty loud on forums with no down vote function.
Can you understand starting is not the important thing for Tari right now? What's important for his development is closing and mins played. Also, his spark off the bench is very important to this team. If he ain't broke, don't fix him.
Starting is not important. But right now, he's not getting enough minutes and Jaen is getting too many. I just don't agree with the "If he ain't broke, don't fix him" that you keep spewing. That doesn't make any sense. When you perform well in a role, that doesn't mean you should be stuck in that role without seeing if you can handle more.
Whatever guy. There is no logical reason for Tari's sake or the Rockets to switch his current role. It's so simple you can't see it. His total minutes should be increased based on how well he's playing.
So, you don't know what I mean. But you think you do. But you're not going to tell me what you think you know what I mean, and you want me to explain it even though I wrote it out exactly how I meant it? Well if you don't understand the concept of of 3 point volume and it's importance for an offense, despite the fact that the Rockets have basically originated and defined this concept during the Morey/Harden era, then I'm not sure there's more I can add.
Ok, that's what I thought. You wrote that wrong. But instead of going back and reading what you wrote you just spew more belligerence. You're right, there is nothing more you can add that will make any sense. You already said above you are just going to get your opinions about what should happen based on what currently is happening so I'm not sure why you are even here on a message board discussing the team. Just be quiet and wait until Udoka makes a change.
If you counted Tari's missed layups and put backs as one single shot, his FG% would go up and his offreb numbers would go down. That said, Tari really has a special nose and incredible hustle for offensive rebounding, not just for his own misses but his teammates' too.
Yes, he's just great. He also has really strong hands and just snatches balls out of opponents' hands quite often, without fouling.
Some players are bench players because they aren't good enough to be starters. Some players are bench players because they are good at coming off the bench. Tari is the latter kind. so are a lot of 6th men. The 5 starters of a team aren't necessarily the 5 best players on the team. In fact, most of the times they aren't. You need balance in a lineup and skillsets need to complement each other well.
Yes, but you rarely get paid 25 or 30 million for coming off the bench unless you are named Jamal Crawford (or Lou Williams). If you want to make big bucks, you got to at least start a few seasons, stg, at least 2 seasons. Every halfway professional Agent is going to tell him .....Go get a starting job.
