Thing is if Cam deserved to be getting minutes he would. Ime doesn't play favorites and is about winning. He has a lot of bad habits and is a me first player. He's extremely talented and I'm glad the Rockets got him but people need to pump the brakes and let him develop. I've read a few here already say he's our future franchise player (which is absurd considering what Sengun is doing). I think people are setting unrealistic aspirations for Cam just because Green is playing poorly. They shouldn't correlate
Not impressed with Xmas workout videos. Tells me he doesn’t care for his wife / kids / parents and side hoes. @Jontro
Not to mention, he made someone practice with him and miss time with their family. And then other people had to open TC and turn on the lights, etc. Someone probably even had to wash his towels after his shower.
Agree. Ime will give him some prime time minutes at some point and that will be his chance to show his progress. He needs to be ready to show the staff what he's learned and earn more minutes. If he doesn't seize the opportunity, Ime will continue to polish his game until he gets it (or not).
He definitely needs more court awareness and a jump in Basketball IQ--and that's to be expected at his age. But a guy like Cam can really help himself by developing effort into a top-level skill. With his physicality he will eventually be able to intimidate opponents just by getting in a defensive stance. I'm betting it clicks for him sooner rather than later. And indeed, he needs his sinning to be on the commission side while being as pure as a newborn lamb on the omission side.
Exactly. There's no rush. As it stands we're a team that has a chance to get into the playoffs and with assets to improve on that. I think outside of Silas being terrible trying to rush Green into a role he wasn't suited for hindered him a great deal. I don't want that to happen to Cam and I have extreme confidence in Ime.
I like Cam's game despite his ball-stopping tunnel vision. I expect him to see more minutes as the season progresses. This long home stand over the Holidays will tell us whether the coaching staff thinks Cam is ready to contribute - get some playing time and stay up with the main team and that tells me Ime thinks Cam is ready, but only get garbage minutes and go back to the Vipers tells us Ime thinks Cam still has to work on being a team first player. He reminds me of Jaylen Brown or Anthony Edwards physically and with his game. He can shoot and self create. He plays defense - although he his team defense needs a lot of work - he is already able to stay in front of offensive players one on one, rebound, and play the passing lanes. I am sure Ime is just trying to bring him along slowly to make sure the rotation doesn't get upset by adding another player who has to learn how to play winning basketball. The emergence of Jabari Smith Jr. the past few weeks will probably lead to Cam getting more of Jalen Green's minutes. Ironically, because, Sengun, Tari, and Bari have emerged as winning basketball players and core offensive options, it has become easier to allocate Green's minutes to other options like Cam and Tari because the Rockets don't have to rely on the "potential" that Jalen could take over a game offensively. Jalen's timeline for development is contracting. With Cam waiting in the wings and Tari & Bari's progression as second year players - along with Sengun having an all-star season, Jalen has to start playing winning basketball to remain a part of the Rocket's future plans.
Does he? I don't think that's ever been used to describe him which is partially why he fell in the draft. He's got the ability to be an explosive scorer because he can shoot and create his own shot. What he lacks is defense and basketball IQ because he's always looking for his. That can change as he's young but there's a very good reason he's not currently in the rotation. Give him time
Looking for his OFF the ball is exactly what this team needs it is movement into space, Jalen is a clueless chicken out there off the ball. DD
Nobody is arguing how poorly Jalen has been. I think that's the consensus. I personally don't think Cam is anywhere near a starter yet and obviously Ime doesn't either. Our team is winning. I'd love to add a guy like Bane at the deadline (highly unlikely) to replace Green. Cam would disrupt the offense imo.
Anyone would disrupt the offense, the reason I like Cam is that he moves off the ball and yes he is moving to hunt his shot but his movement and gravity will open it up for others. Cam is a number 1 options guy, he will probably be that guy his entire career - and the sky is the limit, he could be anywhere from a 6th man bucket getter like Lou WIlliams to a Superstar like Kobe - he has all that talent....and his IQ is high......his demeanor is a little stand offish but that is his personality type just a serious dude all about playing the game. I love his potential and upside, I think he and Sengun and Bari our our main 3......and the others are all maybes. DD
While accurate the offense is currently working and doesn't need an internal change. It's why I'm ok with Tari coming off the bench. He reminds me of Rodman with more offense (surprised he doesn't get that comparison yet). Cam has talent. There's no doubt about that. He's just not there yet. We're not a team full of shooters. Cam would clog things up. You lost me on Kobe. He's not even close to as talented as Kobe. I also don't think he's Lou Willuams either. I could see Rashard Lewis (obviously Lewis was taller). His demeanor is me first. Like I said that's something I believe Ime can change. Otherwise, his tenure here will be short. We completely agree here on potential and upside. From my perspective it's Alpi, Jabari, Tari and whoever else fits around them.
