Just saw this and came here to post it. Really, can somebody explain to me why we're supposed to be impressed by this mid? Throw in the fact that he's got the most punchable face in sports...
Big Clemson and Trevor fan here but I've said many times before he is not a "franchise" QB. Clemson fans who saw him play every game for 3 years know exactly what I'm talking about. However, to be fair, you gotta throw out his rookie season because Urban Meyer was such an arrogant, out-of-touch train wreck. Equating Trevor with Daniel Jones is nonsense.
Meyer has shown that he is a QB killer, a la Pat Fisher for Jared Gofff and Staley for Justin Herbert rumors abound that Chargers interested in Jim Harbaugh for head coaching job , which bodes well for Herbert
This ignores that Lawrence got better each of his first 3 years while Jones has gotten progressively worse culminating in this year's spectacular 2 TDs and 6 INTs.
Everyone in the media is dumping on Purdy. It is one game. The interceptions were all "tipped balls" except one including the last of the game with Purdy out. The probabilities of that happening all in the same game is incredibly low. I have watched him all year. He will recover. The injuries to key players is another matter.
When Purdy has A+ talent around him he looks good. When he has B talent around him he’s zach wilson. Would be fun to see him on Kc or some other team that has D level talent
Call it what you want, but tipped balls are usually tipped because they are late. Had another horrible throw to start the 2nd half that was a panic toss, then another bad one which was the 4th pick. I am surprised his coach took him out knowing the MVP conversation. That is a bad look on a resume when you get benched because your coach is acknowledging the complete opposite of that award. Christian McCaffery deserves the award imo.
They originally took him out because he was hurt and then didn't bring him back in because the game was largely out of reach and the Ravens were crushing the remnants of the 49ers OLine so no reason to risk him getting hurt more in a game that has no actual consequences for them (they still get the #1 seed if they win out). Besides, it was a good opportunity to give Darnold some real game action and he had done well on the previous drive.
