I'm no lawyer, but brand confusion is a thing, regardless of who is doing it to who. On top of that, God knows how many chokepoints there are in terms of brand approvals in the league.
We’re talking about the shade of the color… not copying the uniform. The Lions and Chargers both have version of “light/powder/columbia/honululu blue” Whatever they’re going with has already gotten said approval.
There was a teaser post earlier from a 610 EP that was not a mockup, but you could see the blue shade. There’s enough out there, and enough of the media and some higher ups have gotten a sneak preview, to come to the conclusion that “houston” blue will just be a version of the Columbia/powder blue.
There's a big difference between the color light blue and an entire esthetic that obviously mimics the Oilers, which is property of another person. If you tried this, you would probably lose both at the NFL level and in the courtroom. Edit: I wish UH told the NFL to eat **** and made that uniform a yearly tradition. Let the big bad NFL and Amy come down on them and see how it plays out in the court of public opinion.
If the Texans were clever, they should have trolled the Titans right back by wearing Buffalo Bills' colors.
Please no. Theyre going to that T and that old english H-Town and I hate it. Its like theyre trying to steal that ugly ass titans identity. Its gonna be the bizarro version of the titans trying to be the Oilers.
I agree with all of this, except I kind of like the jerseys posted above your post. I would probably like to see the blue be a slight bit lighter though.
Colorway is nice, but God I hate the corny, gimmicky "H-Town" on the front of the jersey. Reminds me of the shitty "ATL" on front of the Falcons' new uni's. Looks so amateur to me, like XFL or something. Not classic at all. I'm afraid that's what they're going to go with too since that's what the shirts and hats I've seen have on them smh.
THIS. I haven't seen ONE good rebrand mockup. Not a single one. They're all terrible. Especially all these ghetto Old English "H-Town" garbage concepts I keep seeing. I have a bad feeling they're going to completely blow this rebrand. I can already see it now smh. I hate Nike man, every rebrand they touch in the NFL turns to s**t. Falcons, Rams, Browns, Cardinals, Commanders, etc. All terrible rebrands. The Texans are next I fear based on everything we've seen.
FAR better than any mockup I've seen online. Seriously. These are clean, modern, and sleek. And you keep the classic, unique look that the Texans have made their own over the past 2 decades. This rebrand is terrible idea. It's going to backfire and we're going to regret it. Watch.
Lol no one is going to regret it. The Texans have the most boring uniforms in the league besides the all red uniforms.
I hope we don't change our colors. We have a timeless look. The only change I may make is going Battle Red most of the time. That's a suitable way to change it up.
Clean, modern, and sleek? It's the same thing they've been wearing for 20 years. The white helmet is dope though.
TBH I'm pretty pessimistic about all this. I think they're going to come out with some minor redesign that makes no one happy, and at the same time release a bunch of alternate jerseys that cater to each of the constituent crowds. The problem is the ****ing name. "Texans" makes it nearly impossible to ditch the tri-color state flag copycat stuff. Failing Columbia blue, the real play here is to lean into red as hard as possible IMO. Only the Chiefs truly own that color. Versus like 13 teams that prominently feature blue, 7 of whom feature a shade of blue almost identical to the Texans'.
