It happened in 2007. Story says “no other victims have been reported.” Victim is in HER 30s now. I just don’t get how anyone could ever think they’ll get away with sleeping with a student. Like a teenager can keep something like that a secret.
Why do they think they will get away with it? Well - first I would point out that a lot of them DO get away with it. Second, I represent minor females against school districts. It has become a big part of my work… I don’t want to go too far down the rabbit hole, but most of the molesters are not mentally or emotionally stable - so they don’t really consider the likelihood of being caught OR they have a compulsion they cannot control… not all molesters are the same. Some are basically born attracted to children and others do it after personal trauma and usually are not repeat offenders. Regardless - these school districts need to take this stuff more serious. Molestation in public schools is out of control, way worse than private schools or religious institutions… I am close to settling one in Illinois for $8,000,000 for a male teacher that molested a pre-teen girl.
I couldn't do your work Nook, just too real for me. I'm glad you are getting some justice for your victims but I couldn't deal with that every day of my work life.
the same as when my kid 4 years ago had a ruptured appendix and spent close to a month in the hospital. i remember seeing children and kids with cancer. whoever can work day after day helping them are literally heroes.
That's probably because there are way more public schools than private schools or religious institutions. Pervs can be anywhere, and often religious institutions keep that stuff hush hush.
