Detroit is not even at that juncture. Ujiri did what many authoritative figures used to do, abuse power and became self absorbed..... but you got to climb to his heights first..... You could also build the culture first with a strong coach like Udoka first instead of going after a strong GM.
That was the idea with Monty….he changed the culture in Phoenix. Not exactly working this time around though
Have not been abreast of things with Monty but he seemed to be a players coach and not someone who is a disciplinarian. They need disciplinarians with kid players. This is a tale as old as time. It is not even difficult to grasp.
They will be way under the cap this next offseason. They can go out and buy some vets like the Rockets did to become an average team.
Nothing will change until they get rid of Stephen Silas. All of the same issues that plagued us while Silas was here - undisciplined play, terrible defensive schemes, no offensive structure are present in Detroit. I do not know how he has a job anymore in the NBA.
I feel bad for the young guys, as a fan of a team who went through it, we should be the last ones wishing this to continue and or laughing at this.
Coincidentally, the last team that lost 26 straight in a single season, the "trust the process" 76ers ended their streak by beating the Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons of Old were really tough, they could not score a lick but were tough defensively, this is just another losing team.
There's a lot of hate for him but he has an 80M contract. If he gets fired the owner has to pay all that.
All of the same issues led to us having one of the quickest rebuilds in nba history. They are following the same trajectory Rafael Stone created
