For Hamas, it’s about killing others to establish and exert power. Hamas is an offshoot of the global Islamist movement. They have and do kill other Muslims for not being the right kind of Muslim. Hamas and the various fanatical Salafists terror organizations would’ve cropped up even if the Ottomans reigned supreme because the Islamic world decided it was a lack of piety that resulted in the European world overtaking the Islamic world in power and knowledge. And during the 20th century, it was beneficial for the US to prop up the Saudis and the Salafists as a barrier to socialist/atheist outreach from the Soviet Union. The US led world order exists because we ultimately control the flow of global energy. Any threat to that world order results in a swift fist to the perceived threat. Because disrupting that world order could very well mean the end of our economic dominance. That means sometimes we support Islamists. And sometimes we bomb them. But it’s never personal. We don’t support the modern state of Israel because we think they are a democracy or that they are actually Europeans. It’s not even because of our shared “Judeo Christian values“. We do it as a hedge to prevent a unified Middle East working against us. It’s the same reason why we support Ukraine against Russia.
@AroundTheWorld bro it’s just another war against Israel Hence the Yom Kippur war reference It was with tanks now its acme tunnels like the road runner cartoons Also we have woke people just like the climate change people and the anti chicken people at the nba games their strategy of blocking cars or glueing themselves are indirect and mind bogglingly stupid it’s like if there’s a fire , you go directly there and put water on it the woke think if there’s a fire , then you either block traffic , defund the police or trying to cancel Dave Chappelle @Salvy @basso see?
hahahah holy sh*t I could tell you were a denialist but didn't think it was this bad. Sign up for the Ha'aretz newsletter so you can stay up to date my boy.
Not true. The end of Ottoman Rule (including all of the 19th century) was particularly brutal for Jews in Palestine. It was a terrible time for Jews as well in North Africa, Arabia, Persia, Russia, parts of Europe and all of the Ottoman Empire. The Jaffa Deportation in 1915-17 was the deportation of 10,000 Jews from Jaffa and Tel Aviv, by the authorities of the Ottoman Empire in Palestine. The evicted civilians were not allowed to carry off their belongings and the deportation was accompanied by severe violence, starvation, theft, persecution and abuse. It is thought that about 1,500 died as a result of the deportation. They collected people walking the streets of Tel Aviv and Jaffa and deported them by ship to Egypt. There were pogroms in Palestine and all over the Ottoman empire at this time. Jews were living in mandatory ghettos in North Africa and as second class citizens in Arabia and Persia as well as undergoing a pre-holocaust holocaust in Russia during the civil war in 1918-22 and the murder of 250,000 Jews. Ultimately, the holocaust and, then, the expulsion of 800,000 Jews completely from Muslim countries in Middle East and North Africa in 1948-1952 certainly helped to increase the Jewish population of Israel very quickly.
Has a Hamas representative reached out to you yet? So he can get you sorted out in the tunnels and assign you a bunk buddy...
There were no pogroms in Palestine pre-balfour declaration. A Twitter list with zero intellectual curiosity doesn't drive home your point.
Before Zionism, before 1897. The Ottomans were not benevolent rulers by any stretch. Every non-Turkish ethnic group has their horror stories to tell. But so does every ethnic group across the globe during the 19th century. It was en vogue to subjugate. Whether it’s the Irish, Congolese, or the Armenian, the powerful empires subjugated the powerless to further than imperialist desires. But Jewish life in the region was not the same as the conflict that took place post Zionism and onward. I promise I’m not a Bolshevik, but I understand the appeal.
If I posted a list instead of a twitter link would that be enough to pique your intellectual curiosity? What are you even debating here? No pogroms or violence against Jews in Palestine before 1917? That is absurd. Here is just one historically documented attack. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1834_looting_of_Safed The Genocide of Safed in 1834 (modern day Israel- Galilee region) Accounts of the month-long event tell of large scale looting, as well as killing and raping of Jews and the destruction of homes and synagogues by Druze and Arabs. Many Torah scrolls were desecrated and many Jews were left severely wounded. The event has been described as a pogrom. Also, the Jaffa, Tel Aviv deportations from 1914-1917 in which 10,000 Jews were rounded up, beaten and deported to Egypt resulting in 1,500 deaths was before the Balfour Declaration.
classic izraeli brainwash syndrome where they refuse to acknowledge that occupation itself is terrorism as is their baby killing bombing campaign
A good rule of thumb for this conflict is to learn how to spell the name of the participants. Also, can you post something intelligent, please? We are on page 279 of this thread. If you want to add something Anti-Israel to the discussion, please share something with some sort of content, adding your personal input to the many debates and discussions held here for the last 10 weeks while showing, at least, a basic understanding and comprehension of the intricacies of the historical relationship between Israel and Palestine and the problems that have impeded a lasting peace in the region. What would you like to see happen besides a ceasefire by Israel? What is your vision for the future of Israel and Palestine? Hamas rule? Sharia law Islamic state? 2 state solution? Israeli citizenship for Gazans & citizens of West Bank? "Tear down that wall?" What should Israel do in the meantime to protect it's citizens (including the 2 million Muslim Arab-Israelis living in Israel with full equal rights) from rockets, terrorist attacks and another Oct. 7 massacre?
there's people in here who despite sufficient evidence are refusing to believe that izrael murdered hundreds of their own on Oct 7 so no I will not be doing that. "including the 2 million Muslim Arab-Israelis living in Israel with full equal rights" cannot engage with someone who actually believes this also love how you refuse to acknowledge atw calling me a terrorist. what is that adding?
My vision is that eventually Palestinians in Gaza will give up on considering Gaza a future viable home for a state due to the inhospitable nature of the area over time and beg to move to Egypt due to campaigns of ordinance drops and denying of basic construction material to rebuild over a multi decade stretch where then then 50 years from now there will be some ceremony for mourning ethnic cleansing of Palestinians with an apology letter from the new woke Israeli government in 50 years that will criticized their past similar to how Americans talk about the potential natives. Let's be real and acknowledge this is the most likely scenario to happen. It seems to be the pattern of how these things go.
You do not believe there are almost 2 million Muslim Arab-Israelis living in Israel with full equal rights? What rights do you think they are lacking?
