Poll got skewed by the subjective comments associated with the options, and then some having no comment (nobody wanted to pick 2, 4, or 8.) It should've just been 1-10 with 10 being superstar and 1 being bust, no extra commentary.
Either way it settled right around 5 as the plurality and the average. I'm a bit surprised, would've expected 4 or maybe even 3. The fanbase is showing uncharacteristic patience.
I agree with you partially, but I wanted some context for what the numbers meant. Superstar or bust can be answered with a simple yes/no question.
The naysayers tend to speak louder and more often. I wanted to remove that bias. Most congregating towards the middle is higher than one would expect reading the threads, I agree.
Jalen probably turns it on at the end of the season like he normally does when other teams are tanking and not giving a single ****. Fans get excited for next season and he reverts to his mediocre self again.
It's cause those that sit on either end of the spectrum start the most threads. Us chill people are just watching and waiting before overreacting.
Sorry, but it was poorly done. It doesn't follow a scale at all with the phrasing and words you use. Option 5 is any of the numbers with the way you phrased it, Option 3 is subjective on what one "hoped," same for Option 6. Without defining what "valuable" is, Option 7 is also entirely subjective.
1 but voted 3. Only reason a 3 is because I know they're not going to get any value in trading him. Just need to ride out the remainder of his contract and hope to god they do not offer him another one for big money.
I believe in Ime and I’d be happy for him to make that decision. Full faith, I’ll follow his mind on this matter. Right now he’s starting him.
Of ALL the hate Jalen gets this year, I’m a little surprised how little you hear anyone mention that we are running an entirely different offensive system this year with worse shooters. I mean - I agree with the same observations that Jalen looks very misplaced out there but it’s also worth noting inconsistent Jabari is probably the only player out there people don’t like to leave open from deep. Teams are willing to take chances on Sengun and Brooks, and even FVV as a shooter plus Sengun is operating more on the blocks this year which brings the other teams bigs to the basket where Green struggles to finish over bigger players. It hasn’t looked great for Jalen but I think it’s very unfair to pin this all on Jalen - especially because the chief criticism during Udoka’s Boston era was their offense struggled to score consistently even with Brown and Tatum (sound familiar?). I think we have issues to work through with our offense and this is a BIG reasons why I was saying last year that I thought Houston ultimately would have to pick between Sengun and Jalen because their skill sets aren’t complimentary unless Jalen becomes a high level PnR player OR Sengun turns into a decent 3pt shooter. Neither of them have done that and here we are with both players struggling to share the floor at the same time and Udoka’s decision to pair Alpi with FVV also hurts Jalen for more spacing reasons. I think Udoka needs to figure out some rotations that give both players their own opportunities to shine and meanwhile we either need to encourage both players to broaden their skillset or…we need to pick a strategy as a team and trade one or the other to start refining our team concept because right now it still looks like the “best available” strategy we employed in the draft.
My expectations for Jalen keep lowering and he keeps coming up short. I thought for a second hed eventually become a good role player but i dont even think hes good enough to fill that type of role. I think he's a Michael Beasley type player at best.
A demotion might help his growth if it doesn't tank his confidence. The man is willing to learn. You gotta give him that. Let Udoka do his thing from now to contract extension talks. It's relatively cheaper than his replacements.
It is not part of the poll but the more important thing is we have to finish contract and see what happens. And we get a 'free' pass to see where he is at, so it doesn't really matter where we evaluate him.
