She is a Rangers fan who said Altuve does not deserve respect because he cheated.

    Nothing to see hear.

The Chron hired her to report on the Astros - big issue here, but it's with the Cron, not her.

Personally she has stated an opinion and must live with it. I don't like it or her because of it but I don't wish her physical or emotional harm.

The Astros organization, players, and fans should just ignore her, hold whatever access they legally and ethically can from her and move on with life until she goes away.

Twisted mentality huh? Makes ya hope these aren't the same kind of parents who support their kids bullying and threatening their high school sports rivals online, or tell them if some kid acts suicidal over online threats he just needs to quit playing sports because his skin isn't thick enough.

She needs to find another line of work if this line of work is driving her to suicidal thoughts. This job isn't for her.

I appreciate that you openly accept that you're a shitty human being. There seem to be a lot of other people here who say its wrong but feel the need to add a "yeah, but..." disclaimer to then make it less-wrong. It's like the "yeah the rapist is bad, but when you dress like that, you should expect to be raped!" people.

I disagree. You can't just blame the work or the person if they are receiving threats that freak them out. You blame the perpetrators of violent threats always. Nobody should have to move, change jobs, change schools, or go into hiding online because they are being threatened with harm. Nobody.

Tell me in the 90's were journalists having these issues.

Sometimes people just aren't cut out for the careers they choose. This appears to be the case in this instance.

The issue is that we live in reality. I’m a teacher for example. Part of what comes with being a teacher is parents and students trashing you. Some people can’t handle that and end up quitting. Is it right? Of course not, but it’s real life. Imagine if she lied about and trashed jeter and then got hired to report on the yankees?

Are absolutely certain of what's the truth and what isn't?

The VILE behavior BY this woman. Now this does not JUSTIFY the behavior as much as explain it. It's like running over a mob blocking a street trying to pull people out of their cars. No one should be put in that position in the first place.

What a shitty false equivalence. I would imagine any victim of rape would feel pretty offended by your comment. There is a gargantuan difference between blaming a rape victim based on how they dress vs someone who takes a job that inherently makes them a public figure subject to internet backlash being held accountable for not being able to keep it in perspective.

How do you propose that she is made to stop lying?

Seems to me that she's learned about the repercussions of being a lazy liar and that's a good thing IMHO

    Of course I detest liars.

Run over those POS and if you have to stop because one of them gets trapped under your vehicle, then with the legal carry laws here in Texas if the mob come calling Rittenhouse a few of them.

Actually quite the opposite (if you are referring to me, since the comment you replied to was originally directed at me). I teach my kids what the internet is: it is a wonderful tool for knowledge and communication and entertainment, but always a place where people can hide behind anonymity and where everything is on record forever. The internet also generally is hateful toward women. I teach my children to be a force of good in the world, but also not to be ignorant of the reality that many people are cruel. I am preparing them to be able to maintain perspective and be prepared for the seemingly inevitable time when someone says something ugly to them online. If that reporter were my daughter, she would have expected that when taking a job like that, you become a public figure, and public figures are nearly guaranteed to be the victim of online bullying at some point, so if you’re going to pursue that career, you’d better be able to handle that. That’s not blaming her for being bullied, it’s holding her accountable for being willfully ignorant (based on her documented previous run-ins with people online) of the real downside of her job.

Rather than callously comparing it to rape, a more apt comparison might be to someone who walks out into traffic on a busy interstate. Yes, whoever hits her should have been driving more carefully, and should be pursued and punished within the law. But it’s hard to pity someone for suffering consequences that were an entirely predictable outcome.

I hope I never face this choice, but I'd rather die in jail than at the hands of a mob.
