As far as Turkey goes… , I have Turkish friends from my game I play …I have to say they are very passionate people and often times the women are extremely beautiful such as Hande Erçel …but that country can eat sh.it and go to hell (at least the politicians) Being such a friend to Hamas knowing how they operate
The woke people here don’t understand the history of that region The Jordanians and Egyptians don’t want Palestinians They can hate on Israel and be sympathetic but they don’t want Hamas . we are talking about a country that went to war with Israel. They don’t want the Palestinians. They don’t want the Hamas. but the LGBT and blm do? Ok . Let them move to San Francisco
Don't they know about Asylum? Something something human right something something international law. I suppose that only applies to Western States we love to bash.
Man did Americans know Jews to well when they denied them refugee status in America from Germany? Also Egypt is a economically poor country. There is no way it can financially handle an influx of 1 million refugees who will need robust social services to get them on their feet.
No Arab country will accept a mass influx of refugees while the extremists heading the Israeli government refuse to provide any guarantee that they would be allowed to return.
Don't refugees/asylum seekers have a right to claim that status in a foreign country under international law? Or does that standard only apply to "rich" countries or something? I didn't realize claiming Egypt is a "poor" country meant they don't have to accept refugees/asylum seekers?
Do you think the technicality of international law is a gotcha here? My point is that oppressed people always get denied refugee status because I replied to a comment that suggests that Egypt is denying crossing of the border because "they know Palestinians are evil". That is the premise I resounded to and I merely provided an example of another previous persdeucted group being denied refugee status in mass leading to genocides of said group of people.
I love Rapaport... but he isn't exactly nonbiased, he is a Jew and has given financially to Israel in the past.
That's like saying MLK "wasn't nonbiased because he's black". While true in both cases, I hope you realize how it sounds.
I think you should condemn Egypts refusal to welcome/safeguard and maintain refugees/asylum seekers. Mums the word on non-western countries duties vis-a-vis refugees/asylum seekers but plenty of invective for Western countries regarding perceived failings regarding their treatment of refugees/asylum seekers. If you maintain the United States and other Western countries have an obligation/duty to refugees or asylum seekers, countries like Egypt have just as much an obligation/duty to refugees/asylum seekers. There's not some vague/invisible level of wealth that makes it such that a country must provide rights and maintenance to refugees or asylum seekers. You just made that up out of whole cloth.
Economic stability of a country doesn't determine if they can handle the load of 1 million displaced individuals that require social services to get them back into being productive? Are you saying Afghanistan has the same means to handle refugees and the United States? And why not condemn the people who want to turn Palestinians into permanent refugees? It's an Israeli tactic to shame countries like Egypt to not partake in their ethnic cleansing. What do you define displacing people from their homes to another country and then not allowing them back in? Egypt also understands that part. The fact that they won't be able to go back in Gaza effectively making Egypt culpable in ethnic cleansing. The saddest part about this is majority of Gaza residents are children and grandchildren of already displaced Arab families during the Nakba. So you are essentially wanting to refugee^2 or refugee inception these people.
There are a number of reasons that Egypt does not want Palestinians. First, they are not a wealthy nation and they do not want to let in a lot of poor people. Second, they do not want any of the terrorists or sympathizers to come in with the refugees... they don't want people in Egypt trying to attack Israel, and then having to potentially deal with Israel. Also Egypt is already silently battling ISIS. Jordan already has taken in a lot of refugees, and they saw what happened to Lebanon when they took in a lot of displaced refugees. Also, while Israel and the West talks as if the destruction of Hamas will solve a lot of problems, those in the Middle East disagree. There are still a lot of terrorist organizations in Gaza and WestBank that are likely to fill the power vacuum, like Palestinian Islamic Jihad - that will do what it can to cause havoc. Third, they want to let Israel figure it out. Israel pushed the Palestinians out of Israel proper. Israel is the one that turned the occupied territory into an apartheid nation and Egypt does not see it as their problem. Fourth, they do not want to be seen as complicit in the displacement of Palestinians, especially with the possibility of a future Palestinian state - the last thing they want is Palestine emerging and being an enemy in the region. Fifth - Palestinians in general do not want to go to Jordan or Egypt because they fear they will lose a homeland forever. The only way I can see Egypt taking any of the refugees in, is financial help AND more importantly, a guarantee from a third party like Saudi Arabia, to take the refugees in.... and even with that guarantee, there are still a lot of problems. At the end of the day, this is a problem that Israel and the Palestinians will have to work out - it isn't an Egyptian or Jordanian problem at this point. Israel and the Palestinians made a number of decisions that led to this and they can face the consequences.
