    He could be a three time MVP and still a good number of Turkish people wouldn't even know his name. Basketball is popular but nothing compared to football. And I would argue that to be a real national hero his NT career is much more important than his NBA career.

    King to 6 million vs 85 million. Sengun has a tougher task to become anywhere close to Jokic’s status. Also nobody is allowed to be more popular than Erdogan so he’s capped there.

    Who gives a ****? This is the NBA and I could not care less about whether some one party authoritarian regime cares about our average NBA center.

    Plus, the premise of this thread is that Alpe is already some All Star level player. Sorry but eye test suggests he is not close. He has poor foot speed, is an average FT shooter, inconsistent on D, and poor physical conditioning. He still had a lot of work to do before we can put him on that level.

    I think we should all be more concerned that we don’t put all of our eggs in the Alpe basket and get stuck with a team of Alpe and a bunch of old FAs (since no big time FAs will want to sign here).
