And you’re missing the point why many support Hamas. Extremist gain support in these type of conflicts when there is little hope economic and other opportunities. Just looking at this as that “the Palestinians just hate Jews” ignores that the PLO Did attempt to make peace and even now Recognizes the existence of Israel.
Yes they were. fyi so were some Zionist groups. Google it. That doesn’t change the fact that they tried to make peace and recognized Israel.
That's exactly it. It takes just one extremist move to derail and make everything much harder. It takes a billion peaceful moves to move toward peace and maintain it. It takes the willingness to trust and give peace a chance. Extremists on both sides have zero trust that peace can be achieved (or worse, that peace is not desirable). It is extremely hard to shift toward peace, and it takes great leadership to do so on both sides. Too many people take the easy short-term solution—just kill them. A short-term security solution that inevitably will not last, as we have seen over and over.
Imagine what they could have accomplished for the Palestinian, "innocent civilians" instead of the terror infrastructure nonsense
You need to learn to read. And again, resorting to ad hominem attacks is indicative of an inability to sustain a constructive argument.
Red herring. You are also wrong. It was under Israeli occupation, and while Israel claims it stopped occupying the Gaza strip in 2005, most international organizations disagree. From a simple common sense perspective, the international organizations are correct - the Israeli government controls the strip's resources (airspace, borders, water, electricity) and regulates what can come in and out. https://www.state.gov/reports/2016-...ccupied-territories-the-occupied-territories/ 2016 Report from the US State Dept:The Occupied Territories, which include the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, are subject to the jurisdiction of Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA), with the division of responsibilities overlapping in much of the territory. https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/menasource/gaza-israel-occupied-international-law/ Israel believes it “disengaged” from Gaza in 2005 when it completely withdrew its military and civilians from the area. With this withdrawal, Israel and the United States—as well as many international legal, military, and foreign policy experts—argue that Israel ceded the effective control needed under the legal definition of occupation, therefore ending the occupation. Still, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant recently stated that after the conflict, Israel would “no longer have ‘responsibility for life in the Gaza Strip,’” seemingly confirming a level of ongoing engagement. In contrast, many prominent international institutions, organizations and bodies—including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, UN General Assembly (UNGA), European Union (EU), African Union, International Criminal Court (ICC) (both Pre-Trial Chamber I and the Office of the Prosecutor), Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch—as well as international legal experts and other organizations, argue that Israel has occupied Palestinian territories including Gaza since 1967.1 While they acknowledge that Israel no longer had the traditional marker of effective control after the disengagement—a military presence—they hold that with the help of technology, it has maintained the requisite control in other ways. The status of Israel’s occupation is legally significant, as it determines the legal obligations Israel owes to Gaza. Occupying states have heightened responsibilities to protect local populations and have the basic health and safety supplies they need to survive. Given concerns about Israel’s actions in Gaza—such as possible war crimes, including starvation and the denial of humanitarian aid—Israel would likely be in breach of these obligations. However, the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights has said “the majority of international opinion” holds that Israel maintains effective control, even without armed forces present. While legal experts acknowledge that the lack of a military presence does not follow the “traditional approach” to analyzing effective control, they find that military presence is an “evidentiary test only.” They point to authorities such as the Israeli High Court, which have held that occupation status hinges on the exercise of effective control. They, therefore, find that technology has made it possible for Israel to use ongoing force to exercise effective control—imposing authority and preventing local authorities from exercising control—without a military presence. Specifically, experts from the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory found “noting” positions held by the UN Security Council, UNGA, a 2014 declaration adopted by the Conference of High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, the ICRC, and “positions of previous commissions of inquiry,” that Israel has “control exercised over, inter alia, [Gaza’s] airspace and territorial waters, land crossings at the borders, supply of civilian infrastructure, including water and electricity, and key governmental functions such as the management of the Palestinian population registry.” They also point to “other forms of force, such as military incursions and firing missiles.”
@Nook this is an ex ambassador who was part of oslo peace talks. Bibi was and IS the biggest obstacle to peace. S M H
Hahahaha how are you people so dumb. Bibi ALLOWED THE AID TO GO INTO GAZA TO HAMAS. He's on record stating he allowed funding to hamas to happen bcz it divided the Palestinians. He GREENLIT a BILLION dollars in 2019 to go to hamas Man right wingers in America are so stupid and just dumb. They'll asslick bibi blindly no matter what the truth is. So effin weird
You said Europeans AID is responsible for Hamas building the tunnels which is FALSE. The new york times already reported that bibi personally greenlit qatar to send over a BILLION DOLLARS in aid to Hamas in 2019 and bibi personally greenlit the funding. Bibi has PERSONALLY funding Hamas at a cost of 30 MILLION DOLLARS A MONTH.
https://www.timesofisrael.com/joshua-mollel-21-tanzanian-intern-hoped-to-open-agribusiness/ He was obviously a tanzanian colonizer
Europe was giving money to UN aid agencies which i dont deny some of it probably did go to Hamas. Thats apples compared to Qatar giving Hamas directly a billion dollars in 2019 with the approval of bibi. Whats so difficult about this for you folks to understand? bibi is a failure and he has been pushing for a strong hamas for decades now. His strategy is to divide the Palestinians into two between PLA/Hamas which he thought would work. Bibi has literally been funding Hamas directly and hes not even shy about it. Forget about the UN which i agree is corrupt but bibi is just as corrupt if not worst. Hes been directly giving Hamas money for decades.
