No I haven’t heard anything about it. Anyone can be dealt for enough talent, and if long term, controllable talent hits - it helps a lot — but it is highly unlikely the Dodgers would give up the cost it would take and the Astros are unlikely to give up the 24-25 window for some possible talent in 26-30.
I wonder if Pepiot was the guy that they were discussing. If it wasn't, if Dodgers don't land Yamamoto, do they go back to Valdez? Or since they traded for Glasnow, wouldn't want to trade more assets when they can sign other good free agent pitchers without giving up assets.
If that's true, and it might be, of course that sucks.....but that's honestly the kind of **** that comes with being a public figure. If you lack the mental constitution to put up with people being awful....maybe don't seek the stage. Also, it's a bit convenient to say that all of the bad stuff happened in DM's that she doesn't release while everything that can be seen is merely calling her out for garbage takes and suggesting she shouldn't be in Houston with a history of those kinds of takes. I think it's a lot more likely that the real issue is that she's worried about her job and is hoping that playing the victim card will be to her benefit.
Not just DMs - it would be pretty easy to find her in real life and harass her offline as well. We've seen it repeatedly in the modern world. Obviously this is a different scale than our crazy political environment, but Guiliani was just found liable for $150MM in how he ruined two election workers' lives and made them have to go into hiding and other things because he accused them of voter fraud. All it takes is a couple of crazies.
That's 2 seasons of contention away. We are spoiled thinking contending is a given. I rather contend half a decade and suck the half than being borderline the whole decade.
The Dodgers just acquired (or are in the process of) a bunch of expensive players and have Ohtani for a decade - their window is not simply 2024/2025, and I doubt that would want to trade useful controllable talent at this point for a pending free agent. Maybe they'd be interested in a Glasnow scenario, though, where it comes with an extension.
It's rough. I am disappointed in how many of my fellow Astros fans stepped over the line here. The seige mentality brings out the worst in people. I get why Astros fans are protective and defensive- I am, too- but this moment in time feels particularly bad. Social media is eating away at our sense of decency, the notion of a shared reality and our cohesion as a society.
The Dodgers still need 2-3 starting pitchers. May is coming back from TJ Buehler is coming back from his 2nd TJ, maybe his 3rd. Ohtani out for the season undergoing 2nd TJ. Kershaw is injured and unsigned. He's likely out until June at the earliest and is not a guy that can pitch consistently through 5 anymore. Urias likely done playing baseball due to his off field problems. Glasnow made a career high 21 GS last year and is now 30. Gonsolin out for the season after undergoing TJ. Miller 1st season made 26 GS between MiLB and MLB. He will likely get to 30 this upcoming season. Sheehan will likely be in their rotation as well. So as of today their realistic rotation right now for opening day is Glasnow, Miller, and Sheehan. That's likely 60-75 GS out of 162.
Better to be pessimistic about 26 than 24 If we are talking winning it all, our chances are WAY less counting on Arraghetti or Beilak or any of those guys than they are with Framber We have been the best team in baseball for almost a decade and no one else is close It would be sad if we turn into a club just trying to stay under the tax and stay just good enough to try and get into the playoffs If all we have is two years left then let’s go balls to the wall those two years and try to win one or two more titles
You are assuming what she is saying is true then, if none of it is public? I get that writers take jobs in markets other than their fandom But honestly, when you are a rangers fan, our huge rival, and you are taking public shots at the most popular player in the history of the franchise, and those shots are not even true Then you take a job covering the team and that player What did you expect the reaction to be? Now look, mental health is a real issue and if she suffers from it I hope she gets the help she needs. But as others have mentioned, if that truly is the case, per profession is an awful one to be in, and especially covering your own fandoms biggest rival
I would hope the response to "this random woman I'd never heard of 2 weeks ago doesn't like one of my team's players" is not "hey, let me make death threats and try to ruin her life!" But we repeatedly see that it is all across social media in so many different situations. There's nothing particular new there. But the justifications people have here for that abhorrent disgusting behavior is a fascinating look into the state of the human condition and what social media has done to people.
I don't know that anyone is just itching to get rid of Framber. You try to analyze the overall picture and see if trading a very valuable piece in Framber could end up being the better overall move. The "they are trying to win this year" stuff is what eventually gets you an infield of Keppinger, Manzella and Chris Johnson with Woody Williams as the key starting pitcher pickup.
I haven't seen anyone on here say they are ok with her receiving death threats? If she really has received them? Because I haven't seen any of that publicly, and as much as you are right about social media in todays world, it is also VERY likely that if she had received any public death threats, it would be all over the news, not just an offseason Astros thread on CF
And trading away a guy like Framber is what gets you a decade of being good enough to challenge for a playoff spot, being good enough to sell enough tickets, but never being good enough to truly be a favorite to go to the World Series You don't have to go far to see how true that is, until the past 7 years Astros History was pretty much exactly that
Depends on what you get back in a trade for Framber and what you do with the money saved by trading Framber. BTW, I'm against trading Framber, but I understand the case for trading him. This comes down to do you think Framber's a head case that can't be fixed?
