Republicans can control the narrative much more easily with a private hearing. After more than a year, they still have nothing substantial to pin on Joe Biden. Hence, they fear a public hearing that would widely expose this. The embarrassment from the last public meeting is something they want to avoid repeating. It was so bad; some thought the former House Speaker set it up for MAGA to fail.
Let him testify in public. If it's important enough to impeach his father over, the American people deserve to see it for themselves. But we know that's not what the GOP is interested in.
I'm begging you... please make a case for why Jonathan Turley is a respected scholar with only the best intentions for America at heart. Turley is only relevant because he says he's a Democrat to get the attention of the right wing propaganda world, and then bashes Democrats for a living in order to manipulate the audience. It's so easy to do too. Tulsi Gabbard did it to you guys too in order to gain fame, and elevate her career. But I guess if you are gullible enough to believe Trump is your god-king that deserves to be handed the United States to rule for eternity then I guess it's easy to see how you'd be gullible enough to believe Turley really is genuine, and a respected scholar just simply following the law where other scholars are too cowardly to speak the truth.

The credit he deserves for that is akin to acknowledging someone making the correct statement that 1+1=2. Let's examine his point of view in a fuller context to judge him. During that Congressional testimony, he said there was insufficient evidence to impeach when there was none but claimed there were ample pieces of evidence to justify an impeachment inquiry when there was nothing but innuendos from partisan Republicans. More recently, on Fox News, he stated that the three installments of $1380 paid by Hunter to his dad to repay a car loan were the "moment of truth", where Democrats need to stand up against corruption and support an impeachment inquiry. I don't know when he became a total partisan hack.
