While all of this is interesting and certainly worth considering - culture needs to be considered as well. What I mean by that is that there is a tremendous amount of internal pressure within Arab and especially Muslim Arab culture to take the position of other Muslims and Arabs. So when I see polls claiming that "80% of Arab Muslims believe X", I am always skeptical. What is said in public, what is expressed to third parties is often very different than what they believe behind closed doors. Arabs also have a very healthy fear of power that in the past has been associated with violence.
I think it is likely that the violations of IDF code of conduct is far more widespread than what is reported by the IDF. The enmity between the two sides makes this inevitable. The thirst for revenge over what happened on October 7th is motivating most of these soldiers, as one might expect. The IDF will make a public example out of a few cases as a way to call out the differences between their behavior and the behavior of Hamas and other Islamic militant groups. Maybe recent words from Biden has something to do with this.
And why wouldn’t they be asked to drop their weapons? Because the point is to show that these are militants rather than civilians. Some skeptics may wonder if they are in fact civilians who were ordered to hold the guns by the IDF as they are paraded in front of the cameras.

Yea, it's not that complicated. It's why you often see pictures of Japanese PoW's in WWII nearly naked. GI's instructed them to strip to make sure they wouldn't blow themselves up on them if they got close.
