NBA wanted to hire him and one team asked about job interview. Can you imagine, you had a chance to employ Obradovic and instead of begging him to accept the position, the team wanted him to be interviewed. Of course Obradavic did not accept to be interviewed, told them: Make you offer ot forget about that.

He is the best surviving coach in the basketball world and NBA missed his service.

    He can shoot also.:

Yes... that sounds very realistic. Billionaires spend 200mill per year (plus) on a basketball team, but don't really care about winning.

If what you are saying is true, then Brett Brown and Matt Nielson (to name just 2) wouldn't have jobs.

    Are you ok?

Why was he so insecure about having a job interview?

He knew he wasn't good enough?

In basketball Mecca Eastern Europe, you beg coach to come your team, not interview. We are talking Obradovic.

Not too much to read into here. He liked their effort in the first half to hold the team to 43 points. It didn't continue into the second half, and as a good coach he got ahead of the problem. We have a really deep team. I like our chances winning 45 games and seeing how we handle the playoffs.

Are you actually telling me that best NBA coaches are better than the best European coaches? I'm not there to slap you but you should really slap yourself in the face for even suggesting that. NBA billionaires don't want to bring them here because they are grumpy, angry and NBA players aren't nearly as coachable as European players. They would get themselves sacked in a month because of babies we have here.

I think the NBA coaches are definitely better than the European coaches. That being said, I think the big problem in the NBA (and as I understand it they don't have this problem in Europe) is that the superstars are above the coaches on the totem pole, this neuters the coaches and can make them look bad.

A 300 million dollar MVP candidate type player has too much leverage. He can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, he can play however he wants. And if the coach benches him, he can demand a trade. Or he can just demand that they fire the coach. It gets to the point that the coaches can't treat these players the way they want to. I promise you, these guys aren't just pushovers for the sake of being pushovers. If your superstar doesn't get along with your coach, it's a pretty easy decision for management, the coach gets fired. Not that he was the greatest coach, but remember Kevin McHale? Remember David Blatt butting heads with Lebron? The coaches in the NBA have to bend the knee to their superstars and let them do whatever they want. If they don't they'll get fired.

Agree with what you are saying and that's why aren't leaving Europe. Blatt probably didn't enjoy coaching in the league where the players have so much power. They are used to being the alpha of the group. I would probably do the same and avoid NBA.

European coaches are better tacticians than NBA coaches. NBA coaching is lightwork in comparison 70% of it is managing egos and %30 is tactics. An average Euroleague coach works with lesser talent in comparison thus he his tactics has to work to win the game while an average NBA coach can rely on his superstar to 'go get the bucket' for him. Working with less make one more creative, craftier. Although i should say that Kerr and Spo are truly elite.
