Do you forget about the old thread where @Os Trigonum was spinning the newest braindead conspiracies about how Joe biden was head mafia man and and the massive plot would be exposed any day now?

Hundreds of pages of nothing but conspiracies by these donkeys with nothing to show. Nothing

Probably missed it for my zealous use of the ignore list function. I like Os just fine, but he posts tons of articles and then is evasive about his own opinions. Does he really think Biden is a head mafia man, or does he think its just good food for thought? He probably never said conclusively.

But sure, the impeachment inquiry is going to bring out all the braindead conspiracy theories that will never amount to anything. It'll generate FUD to discourage voters from pulling the lever for Biden. But I think the alternative -- being blocked from scrutinizing the president for possible corruption unless you already have a smoking gun -- is worse.

in what way is it "worst" when the committee already has subpoena power. You don't have some special power when you open an inquiry. The senate Republicans had looked into Hunter for Years before 2020 and found nothing. The house Republicans have had a year and have found NOTHING

There nothing stopping them from investigating Joe anyway they want right now.

Curious, do you think that every elected official, especially every President, will now be the target of Impeachment Inquiries?

Right now the White House is not cooperating on some discovery on the pretext that there hasn't been a House vote to establish the inquiry - McCarthy had just unilaterally declared it.

If we get into a cycle of impeaching presidents for political advantage, then when we find actual evidence of wrongdoing the public will not believe it. I hope we can maintain a bright line of distinction between an inquiry and an actual impeachment. An impeachment should be a big deal, but an inquiry shouldn't be. I hope every president is the target of inquiries. The House should have a Committee on Presidential Conduct whose mission is to regularly scrutinize the president for impeachable offenses. And I hope the media and the public learns to ignore whatever stupid stunts they pull in inquiries and then the propaganda power of calling an inquiry is neutered. If they actually file articles of impeachment and show the goods, then people can freak out.

Can you share what documents the Biden folks have refused to share with the Republicans that they said they'll share now that there's a magical inquiry..

    Thanks

But why would they shut up? Their entire business model is to throw as much bird **** up against the wall as you possibly can to confuse the average voter. This is what I've been saying on these forums for years and the right wing donkeys @Salvy @Os Trigonum promised us the smoking gun would be released any day now

Nothing ever came cuz theres no corruption and never was. The whole plan is to confuse the average voter which unfortunately it works.

    Sad state of democracy

No, because I haven't paid enough attention to know what they didn't want to send, if that's even public information. And besides, it's just a pretext for not cooperating with House investigators. After the make the inquiry formal, White House lawyers will have to come up with another objection.

I don't mind the inquiries at all, as someone else said, you dig hard enough, and you will find "something"......but this stance of lies and misinformation by the gop is a disservice. Grasserly and co have looked for 4 years and they have nothing...........at some point the inquiry has to stop and they have to be honest with the public. It goes back to small things like a candidate turning over his taxes to show there worth..........something trump would never do. IMO I am not sure you could change a diehard maga`s mind, biden is the mafia man and biden is the devil.........they think that because they have been fed lies and conspiracies for years and have the help of fox and other outlets.

People want change on the economy and I get that and it is getting better but to slow for us that have the attention span of a 5 year old........some things like Democracy are more important IMO

The Whitehouse has already shared over 3000 bank documents and other financial records relating to the investigation. They've declassified thousands of emails for the committee.

There's no magical evidence that the wh is withholding from the committee that they'll magically get now. You're getting bad information

"Speaking honestly" = reading a statement prepared by his lawyers

At least they are starting to distance themselves from earlier statements by Joe stating no involvement and shifting to Joe had no "financial" involvement.

It is the motivation being cited by some Republicans who plan to vote for it. They say it'll give them a special power. Probably when they refer Hunter Biden's contempt of Congress to the DOJ, the case would have been somewhat stronger with a formal inquiry. Also, the White House does indeed pick and choose what requests they will comply with. For example, they refused to allow interviews with family and staff about Biden's classified document handling. Will all that stop with a formal inquiry? I doubt it.

The article you sent talks about the missing documents case and the reason the WH rejected the requests cuz congress doesn't have jurisdiction over something the special counsel was already looking at.....

Special counsel *did* interview bidens family and relatives

Biden is compromised to multiple foreign countries via Hunter's deals. Ukraine, China, Russia and more. The goalpost shifting has been laughable...."never discussed business" all the way to "never financially involved" after the evidence came out.

The evidence so far from the House Speaker:
    1. Biden family members and Biden business-linked entities received more than $15 million from individuals in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Romania, and China.
    2. Joe Biden spoke with Hunter Biden’s business associates at least 22 times.
    3. Joe Biden lied about his involvement in the business.
    4. Joe Biden received “direct monthly payments” from Hunter Biden’s “Owasco PC” business account, which received “payments from Chinese state-linked companies and other foreign nationals and companies.”
    5. Investigators flagged the Justice Department’s “deviations” in the five-year investigation into Hunter Biden.
    6. An FBI FD-1023 form alleges Joe Biden accepted a $5 million bribe while vice president.

That's kinda irrelevant. House investigators want cooperation from the White House. They think -- or at least say -- they have more leverage with a formal inquiry.

Getting back to where this tangent got started -- I said it was better to have a sham inquiry than it is to have a high barrier to having any inquiry lest you are prevented from investigating some future president who does commit crimes. This hypothetical future criminal president will also selectively provide discovery, will also hide behind legal niceties of jurisdiction, will also say I will participate my way but not your way, will also say the whole endeavor was started in bad faith. It is the House's duty to conduct oversight, and we need them to do that effectively when we do have an impeachable president. So, when you have an honest president, it is especially incumbent on everyone to be transparent and cooperative even with sham investigations to set the precedent for compliance for the corrupt presidents that will come later. It doesn't matter to me if this inquiry doesn't imbue them with any magical powers. It is important though that the role and the duty of the House to be a check on the President is respected.

Look at this donkey pretending to be intelligent.

    1. You can yell "Biden family" as much as you want. JOE BIDEN didn't take a single dollar from any foreign country while in office or out of office. Compare this to trump who's literally taking millions RIGHT NOW

    2. There's not a single of proof of evidence that Joe Biden ever spoke to hunters associates about business or politics. Nothing. The associates themselves said it was a meager hello goodbye

    3. Biden didn't lie about being involved

    4. Every single dollar Joe biden ever took from Hunter were well recorded and appropriate loan paperwork was established through his CPA. Biden never earned a single dollar in interest or profit from.hunter

    5. An FBI FD103 form is literally a allegation that any person can file against anyone. There is no proof needed to file a claim

Can any of you trolls atleast make this a little difficult for me to disprove? This is basic elementary level detective work. @Astrodome can you folks alteast make this a little difficult? Seriously spinning same garbage from months ago. @luckystrikes

On the other hand trump is openly taking money from the saudis directly but sure Hunter Biden
