Better than the gratitude being shown by putin towards trump and the maga republicans for blocking continued of financial support for Ukraine.
His full tweet below. What was it —teaching someone to fish instead of giving them fish? This is something that is good if Ukraine can become more independent and produce their own weapons to defend themselves. Americans should want this to happen—be less dependent on the US and EU to defend against Russian aggression. I don't know why any American would think this is 'unreal' in a bad way (except, of course, Tucker Carlson, who wanted Russia to win). "I met with leaders of US defense companies and expressed my gratitude to every American worker who manufactures weapons that help us safeguard our people and defend our land. I appreciated all American companies that attended last week's US-Ukraine defense industry conference. I also proposed establishing a European defense hub in Ukraine. We are prepared to make all essential decisions, cut red tape, and allocate orders. We are ready to produce more ammunition and military vehicles, but we require support. It is important to develop joint production of artillery ammo, air defense systems, and artillery and missile systems. Together, we can create more jobs, generate more strength, and provide more opportunities for both of our nations."
As you know I support peace in Ukraine but I do so at a position of strength. Forcing the ukrianians to starve and empowering putin is genuinely one of the most pathetic things we've done in this country in decades. History will look back at this very moment in us history and rightfully acknowledge this is where we lost our credibility and standing in the world.
Republicans supporting Russia has to be one of the most masterful influence campaigns in modern history. They’re going to kill aid to Ukraine and Ukraine will almost certainly lose sooner than later. The Ukrainians had the initiative this summer but due to incrementalism, it was all for waste. Both Russian and Ukrainian life.
I was told we were only sending dated stock to Ukraine and we were back filling with the latest and greatest weaponary. Truthfully, I have trouble keeping up with the war mongers justifications for war
Lord you just ooze sanctimony. So morally superior you are to us little petulant earthling sheep. I remember anyone saying we were only giving Ukraine our outdated stockpiles. We do have an inventory of arms, and weapons that need to stay at a certain level of "readiness" in terms of the what the military recommends. Ukraine arms dip into that inventory that then Lockheed, Raytheon, etc. all have orders to backfill in. That's how it works. No, it's wonderful that we have such a huge for profit military industrial complex, but that was setup post WW2 and for better or worse has been the way it's been for supplying arms around the world with our partners that we sell to. In THIS CASE though, this is where people like me have been saying that it's an exception where our arms can be used for strategic purposes. Because if Putin rolls over the largest Democratic country in Europe with no cost, we'll be MUCH MUCH MUCH more likely for a third world war. Especially with the rise of authoritarianism happening. There must be a price to pay for invading your neighbor because you are a brutal dictator that can only grow their countries economy through overtaking a neighbor, and stealing from its resources, and infrastructure. But go ahead, and spew out more of your morally righteous bullsh$t.
'all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others'. No, its not wonderful we have a massive MIC. The MIC is a massive global arms dealer and somehow you have been brainwashed into thinking demand for deadly weapons is a 'wonderful' thing because we get jobs to buy **** we really dont need. Again, not wonderful. Necessary maybe, but not wonderful. This is about the most war mongering post i've yet to see.
I swear, some people would have just surrendered to Germany after the Maginot line fell, declaring a Nazi victory as a fait acompli. Russians are banging their heads against the wall, but because Ukraine didn't use some Command and Conquor exploit manuver to sneak off one side of the map into the Zerg base from behind defeat is clearly ineviatable.
You know damn well I missed the "Not" and that was a typo. Everything else made that point obvious. The MIC is NOT wonderful.
Probably shared. discussed and completely ignored and/or championed by some here somewhere... but **** if this doesn't speak volumes about the Republican Party... Republicans to meet allies of Hungary’s Viktor Orbán on ending Ukraine aid Hungarian appearance at two-day event part of Orbán’s transatlantic attempt to bolster Russia’s war Allies of Hungary’s far-right prime minister Viktor Orbán will hold a closed-door meeting with Republicans in Washington to push for an end to US military support for Ukraine, the Guardian has learned. Members of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs and staff from the Hungarian embassy in Washington will on Monday begin a two-day event hosted by the conservative Heritage Foundation thinktank. The first day includes panel speeches about the Ukraine war as well as topics such as Transatlantic Culture Wars. It is expected to feature guests including Magor Ernyei, the international director of the Centre for Fundamental Rights, the institute that organized CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) Hungary. Kelley Currie, a former ambassador under then president Donald Trump, said she was invited “but declined”. According to a Republican source, some of the attendees, including Republican members of Congress, have been invited to join closed-door talks the next day. The meeting will take place against a backdrop of tense debate in Washington over Ukraine’s future. Last week the White House warned that, without congressional action, money to buy more weapons and equipment for Kyiv will run out by the end of the year. On Wednesday Senate Republicans blocked an emergency spending bill to fund the war in Ukraine. A diplomatic source close to the Hungarian embassy said: “Orbán is confident that the Ukraine aid will not pass in Congress. That is why he is trying to block assistance from the EU as well.” Orbán is a frequent critic of aid to help Ukraine against the Russian invasion. Seen as Vladimir Putin’s closest ally inside the EU for the past few years, he was photographed smiling and shaking hands with the Russian president two months ago in Beijing... Continued...
