This was one of the weirdest games I've ever seen. Nuggets played so poorly, yet we couldn't get a comfortable lead until the 3rd when we hit shots, but it still didn't feel like we were playing all that well. We threw up horrible shots all game long, from FVV to Brooks to JG. In particular, I'm still baffled every single time Green has space to work with yet chooses to go to his fade-away from his favorite spots. Brooks thinking he was Vernon Maxwell at the start was funny, since no way he was hot enough to throw those up, and FVV seems intent to make it hard on himself when he drives inside. Still, with all of that, we played solid defense for the most part to offset 3 quarters of bad shooting to win against a fully healthy championship team! Impressive to beat them when we played as poorly as we did for quite a chunk of the game.

Feels like we’re the only team that played less than 20 games this season

The problem is the other teams seems ignore that Rockets was practically a 38 wins team last year only mistreated by Silas, Head Honcho, Nix and Gary Bird. Udoka is improving a 38 wins to 45+.

The Rockets had 15 more FTs than Denver, you do not normally get that on the Road.......Denver might have not gone to the rack.

They also did get a bunch of technicals for arguing obvious fouls.

I just want to post by out the Spurs with a supposed generational talent and the greatest coach in the nba has lost 16 in a row. We were acting like last two seasons were such an embarrassment and we had the worst coach in the world. Fact is we just had a subpar coach but the biggest issue was we were young, inexperienced and this league is tough as nails.

They let a lot of physicality go on both sides. But we were more aggressive driving to the hoop and Jokic didn’t fight for as many tip ins which he usually picks up several fouls on. That win was almost more about their poor play as our good play.

How does this work with playoff home court? Say we are 7 or 8 and match up w them. Do we get HCA as the lower seed for winning regular season series?

Pretty sure playoff home advantage is always given to the higher seed. All beating Denver in a series does is allows us to b place higher than them if we have the same record via tiebreaker.
Owning the tiebreaker is pretty useful for seeding if we catch up to them.

I don’t think that’s true because I recall years ago 4 v 5 matchups against Utah that wasn’t based on higher seed but that was when division winners mattered?

Pop's current coaching is not better than ugly Silas coaching.

Wemby sucked in Euroleague and ran away. Sure he is unique but I don't buy "generational talent" story yet. Will be very surprised if he even gets ROTY award. We will see.

Rockets was a 38 wins game last year but Silas&Co were the "fifth column". There is only one explanation for Pistons hiring: To be tank manager. As Pop's name is synonym for decadence, Silas' name might be found in thesearus in tanking section.

I'm Def downgrading Wemby from multi generational to just generational at most. If he was multi generational he would have made the Spurs a playin team at least.

Maybe. Maybe not. I haven’t watched any Spurs games outside our games. So I dunno why the Spurs are losing or how he’s truly playing. I saw he had 21 and 20 last night…that’s pretty insane and I doubt any rookie has ever done that? I don’t think Lebron went to playoffs his first year, but by year 3 they were winning 50 games. And from what I saw they’re not playing him like a franchise player. They’re not force feeding him the ball like they do with some bad teams with lottery rookies. Seemed like Pop is teaching him the basics and building on it, which would limit his production and give the impression he’s overrated.

ftr I do think he MAY be a bit overrated. It’s hard to say until you play a full season against nba talent. It’s a physical league despite the rules favoring offensive players and no one can convince me Europe is even close to as physical.
My biggest reason for not being crazy about him is the same with Chet. Those bodies don’t look like they’re made for this league/sport.
