FX has released the full official trailer for the fifth season of its seasonal anthology series “Fargo” with the story this time unfolding in Minnesota and North Dakota in 2019.

After an unexpected series of events lands Dorothy ‘Dot’ Lyon (Juno Temple) in hot water with the authorities, this seemingly typical Midwestern housewife is suddenly plunged back into a life she thought she had left behind.

North Dakota Sheriff Roy Tillman (Jon Hamm) has been searching for Dot for a long time. A rancher, preacher and a constitutional lawman, Roy believes that he is the law and therefore is above the law.

At his side is his loyal but hopeless son Gator (Joe Keery), who is desperate to prove himself to his larger-than-life father. Roy enlists Ole Munch (Sam Spruell), a shadowy drifter of mysterious origin to hunt Dot.

Jennifer Jason Leigh, Lamorne Morris, Richa Moorjani, Dave Foley and David Rysdahl also star. Creator Noah Hawley returns to executive produce alongside Warren Littlefield, Steve Stark, Kim Todd, and Joel and Ethan Coen.

MGM Television and FX Productions produce, with Amazon and MGM Studios distributing outside North America. The new run of “Fargo” will premiere on the service on November 21st.

Man, it's been several years since season 4 came out. I kind of thought this show was over. But if they keep making it I'll keep watching. Noah Hawley doesn't ever seem to make anything that isn't at the very least interesting, if not downright brilliant. This does appear (from the trailer above) to be getting back more in line with the original movie aesthetic than the last couple seasons did (though they were still brilliant).

Hawley being back plus the great cast makes me very excited for this.

If I had to rank the seasons I'd put them in order of release 1-4...hoping this one breaks that trend.

I'd probably go 1, 2, 4, 3. Though honestly I thought season 2 was very close to the first season, but you just can't beat the chemistry Billy Bob and Freeman had together.

Edit: Did Hawley back off in prior seasons? I thought he's been involved in everything from the beginning? He's listed as a writer credit on every episode for all 4 previous seasons.

Probably wrong about Hawley, but I thought he wasn't as involved last season due to other stuff he wanted to do.

I should rewatch season 4. I've seen the others multiple times.

OK, so I just watched most of the trailer...

Yall noticed that Jon Hamm has nipple rings in the hot tub, right? That's when I turned it off and decided I needed no more surprises.

So far so good. Not GREAT though. YET.

I like Hamm. I like Chris Rock. I like Dave Foley. I love Jennifer Jason Leigh. But none of these actors really FIT the Fargo world for whatever reason. It's just an... imperfect match.

Luke Skywalker actor in the Halloween movie makes the Foley character look MID.

Juno Temple is fine but she grosses me out for some reason. Less annoying in this show than Lasso at least.

I’ll check it out. I do find it interesting how many British actors they cast in Midwest roles.

After four episodes of S5, it's watchable for me. I expect the weirdness to go next-level.

I'm from the Midwest and the contrived accents are very irritating, especially the British actress from Ted Lasso.

I thought S1 was so good they shouldn't even try to do another. Then S2 was even better. I skipped S3 and S4.

I don't know much about the accents, but i thought she's been surprisingly good in this so far.. And I couldn't stand her or he character in Ted Lasso.

This season feels like Hawley is phoning it in like he did last season. Got more to go, but it isn't looking like it'll top season 1 & 2, or even 3.

the plot of Fargo is terrific, but the cringy political dialogue is so awkward and forced

The Cohen Brothers would never write garbage like this
