Do you actually know the reason for that memo? Or are you just reading tweets and then trying to act like you're educated?
I'd characterize it as the US freeing up resources out of unwinnable stalemates so that we'd actually have them available if/when needed. Imagine where the US would be if we hadn't spent trillions on a war that led nowhere for the last 15-20 years. And imagine if Russia invaded NATO members or China invaded Taiwan while extensive US resources were tied up in Afghanistan accomplishing nothing?
Theres a distinction between being pro-Putin and not believing its the United States job to make sure Putin never does anything bad. Not our job.
a most optimistic of takes. imagine supplying all the equipment left behind to Ukraine, rather than the Taliban, who seem to have sold some of it to both Russia and China.
I thought the withdrawal was handled terribly but we did need to withdraw from Afghanistan. I don’t know what message it sent as most of the world knew were going to withdraw for at least a year by the time it happened.
And the reason for continued financial support of Ukraine is not "making sure putin never does anything bad".
Madness? Are you saying it was madness to withdraw from Afghanistan in the first place no matter how it was conducted?
.....and Trump will be forced to praise Putin, because he pulls Trump's strings by promising him things that ring $$$$ in his twisted mind, while stroking his ego for fun.
We spend a lot of money on the military because it creates many well paying middle class jobs. In order to keep this money flowing (ie - keep people employed, which keeps politicians in office, ect ...), we constantly need an enemy. Over the last 30 or so years, Republicans did a great job convincing America that dark skinned people in impoverished countries were our enemy. Laughably stupid. This is a narrative that you pushed against over these years, respect given. But you only pushed against it because it was anti-Republican rhetoric. Now that Democrat politicians are pushing the war mongering narrative, you're all for it. Russia is not going to invade or fully attack any NATO country. Putin isn't stupid, contrary to the popular belief many of you sell yourselves on. A war between NATO and Russia either leads to the implosion of the Russian economy very quickly or a full WWIII. It only becomes WWIII if China gets involved.... and China does not want to be in a full war. The PRC will collapse and China will risk going into yet another civil war. As I've stated many times, if Europe is that concerned about Russia, then let them fund the Ukrainian conflict. Bottom line, Ukraine is not going to win this war. They only win it if they get air superiority, however Russia has a very solid air defense. The US is not going to send in their advanced fighters for this conflict, which just further supports that the US is not that invested in the Ukraine people...they are nothing more than cannon fodder to the West. Just as we did with all of our allies - Afghans, Kurds, Iraqis, Vietnamese, ect ... These United States don't give a fk about these people yet those like yourself hide in your moral high castle pretending you actually do. The United States is not going to send in troops unless we go into a full global conflict. Our best plan of action is to invest in non-war mongering technology, such as AI and space exploration...and improving our crumbling infrastructure. This forces Russia, China and India to refocus or else get left behind. At this point, China and India fully get the message. If the West can disrupt the relationship between China and Russia, then the United States can leave Europe to deal with Russia.
NATO countries are not so sure, especially Poland. NATO is likely very concerned that a Trump second term would lead to the US pulling out of NATO, since Trump is a certified idiot.
trump wants to pull the U.S. out of NATO. What other country and world leader wants the U.S. to pull out of NATO?
Lets use some basic reasoning skills here. Why would Russia go to war with 30 other countries simultaneously, assuming the US pulled out? As I stated, if Russia attacked a NATO country, it would (most likely) lead to an immediate end to Putin's regime or WWIII (because NATO would disband). Authoritarians like yourself fail to understand the power of the people. The citizens of the US, Russia and China do not want a global war.
The same reason that Putin invaded Ukraine in 2022, because he could and he thought the weak democracies in NATO would stand down, just like they did in 2014.
You clearly either fail to understand: 1) Ukraine isn't a part of NATO 2) NATO is a defensive pact, not the world police NATO or anyone else in the west doesn't give a **** about Ukraine. They only care about Russia on NATO's border. That is why the West is involved. Which explains all of your other fantasy outcomes that are not based on some forms of logic
