Because they were wrong, duh. They were wrong to go after Brook Lopez. Missing out on him is one of the best things to happen to this franchise. And besides, it's not even about that. It's about your constant shifting of the goalposts and lack of introspection. You have been wrong about Alperen since day 1 man, just own it. First it was "he's not a starter, he's a bench player", then it was "ok he's a starter, but he's not that good", then it was "okay he's good but not an all-star", and now you're at "ok maybe he's an all-star but he's not a franchise centerpiece/mvp candidate." Just stop. Look inward and maybe rethink why you have repeatedly gotten this so wrong. And stop lying and acting like you haven't been downplaying him. Don't play the "I like Sengun! I think he's a nifty player! He might average 15/7/2 one day!" card. It's okay to be wrong about basketball. Literally everyone here is wrong constantly. But just admit that you got it wrong, don't obfuscate, don't shift the goalposts, and don't double down. Try to figure out why you got it wrong and what you were wrong about. This doesn't mean you have to turn into ATW. You don't have to become president of his fanclub. If you review and recalibrate your assessment of him and you're still skeptical of him ever taking that big leap to superstardom, that's fine. Just don't do the "I've always liked Sengun" act.
If its clearly Alpi, can answer why the Rockets were going so hard after Brook Lopez this Summer in Free Agency? Also, you all need to listen! Stone has been quite, so I listen to Ime, especially at his pressers. He has said a couple of times, how special Amen is, the things he can do are unbelievable on both ends of the court. In addition, he has spoken glowingly about Jabari's defense and we, as fans, see Jabari's ability to score at different levels. He gets asked a question about Alpi at every presser. Jackson Gatlin at least ask two Apli questions every day and Ime says the same things; effective scorer, good passer, needs to do better on defense. I listen to the Rockets, not the bloggers
Cuz our front office is stupid and lucked into this situation. They literally been pushing Sengun down since he got here. Now by pure luck everything got out of his way and you see the star in the making. KPJ getting booted off the team and Lopez not wanting to come both great things. It's like the Texans winning the last game of the season last year to get 2nd pick. Sometimes your front office gets lucky cuz we would all be shutting on Bryce young right now instead watching CJ become a star.
You seriously, logically think the type of coach Ime is, that he would have benched Jabari in favor of Sengun?
@himbasketball seems like having a moving goal post but I think it is okay someone to change their opinion. What bugs me, though, instead of saying, "Hey Herold Bingo! At that time my opinion was Sengun was a bench player. Now I think differently!," he is trying to justify what he said then. Clearly that take was wrong. It is okay to admit that. It doesn't make @himbasketball any less. On the contrary, it makes him more! It also seems like he doesn't really believe in what he says. @himbasketball Do you really believe in what you say? I am just curious!
I can't answer that as I obviously don't work in the front office. They needed to spend money regardless and Looez was one of the best available. I'm not disappointed in FVV or Brooks but we overpaid because we had to. That's pretty much common knowledge. I think Alpi has proven it on the court this year. He's been our best player. That's not to take anything away from Jabari. He is hitting his stride. I love what I'm is doing with the team. Finally holding players accountable. Let Holiday play over Jalen is something Silas would have never done. Sengun has improved on defense. He definitely still has a ways to go but no fan can be displeased with his progress. The good thing is we're rid of Sikas and KPJ so the culture of the team is much different. Just need Jalen to put it together
I think he would. I am not sold on "current" Jabari as much as you do. He needs to gain muscle weight before being a solid starter. That's my take!
The guy who averaged more assists, had a higher assist %, and who the entire offense revolved around would be the hub
I don't think our front office is stupid at all, especially not Udoka. They drafted Amen and Whitmore, that does not spell stupid to me. I think they have a long term plan and it may turn off a lot of fans. All you have to do is look at the Pacers. Their starting 5 is a defensive, 3pt shooting unit and I think thats where the Rockets want to be. ULTIMATELY, we will see
Jabari is definitely playing with a lot more confidence and purpose. Remember Silas admitted he didn't run any plays for him. He's going to be a good player for a while. He won't be a superstar but if you got a Rasheed Wallace type career out if him I'd happily take that
Lol they drafted two guys who can't even sniff the rotation and that makes them not stupid. Amen being outplayed by Aaron Holiday so they sent him to the g league. I don't think Stone is a good GM at all and Udoka loves Sengun. Everytime we need a bucket he goes to Sengun. You think one day he's gonna decide he doesn't want to play him anymore?
So you think if Lopez would have signed, the fronline would have been Lopez and Sengun?? Who is the better defender, Jabari or Sengun and what does Ime pride the most?
What a shameless attention wh0re. Next thing you know, he'll be pole dancing, blowing soap bubbles out of his ass and hollering "look at me, look at me!"
Probably but the defensive scheme would have been different. You can have 3+2 zone defense with those two on the floor.
Why not, they compliment each other perfectly. It's not like Lopez doesn't already play with Giannis. It will be matchup dependent, Jabari, Sengun and Lopez would share minutes. Its not rocket appliances
I don’t have any cronies. You’re asking my personal opinion and I gave it to you. I think if you asked them now, knowing what they know now about sengun and Lopez, they would tell you the same. They are glad it didn’t work out.
