As Alp-Green-Jabari-Tari will be extended (hopefully all), we can't employ another high salary back-up. Getting Balcerowski as back-up C and drafting A. Bona of UCLA next year as backup PF/rim protector will be very saving. Jeff Green - Lonsdale-Boban trio makes around 20 m/year. Balcerowski - Bona will cost around 5 to 6 m/year.
It seems Sengun and AD match quite well. I think AD benefits from his wide shoulders. I was amazed how wide his shoulders were comparing to Alpi's in the picture you posted on another forum showing them next to each other. For Jokic, it seems when Alpi is able to contain Jokic under 50%, we win. I don't think there are many centers who are slowing him like that. That gives me hope for the future.
Clutchfans is featuring alpi too, with a different focus. Maybe just a coincidence but whenever I listen to it, I find clutch bringing up his defense
Astonishing how a 21 year old can have that hunger and knowledge to improve so fast. I have no doubt he could be a top scientist if he wanted to. I remembered Pau Gasol wanted to be a doctor and that was no pipe dream.
Yes - well, I just posted some interesting defensive stats, which are broken down to players' individual defense.
I cut the chord this year so I haven’t seen any Rockets games. But from the highlights and box scores I would say Alpren is our franchise player. Or at least our most consistent.
Alpi has passed the stage where he needs stats to prove he is a good defender. He is a good defender and you can see it clearly. our starting 5 has a defensive rating of 102.3, 3rd best among 27 5 man line-ups that played 100 minutes or more(with the most minutes played in the league despite lower number of games). It is crazy to think that any of the starting 5 has issues that needs to be fixed desperately and will be a problem in the future. Green, Jabari and Alpi all have room to improve on defense, but to talk about any of these guys' defense as a major concern is just hating. Maybe Green a little bit so because he is coming from behind, but even he has improved on defense once he had udoka. So he earned his time for some patience. Edit: Alpi's strength, ability to stay in front of other bigs, contesting shots have improved a lot in just one summer. It is amazing!!
Love the bamboozle Alpi certainly made the idea that Chet deserves an all-star nod over him look ridiculous last night
https://www.rednationhoops.com/p/who-will-alperen-senguns-2nd-star Who will Alperen Sengun's 2nd star be? Exploring the possibilities SALMAN ALI DEC 7, 2023 Alperen Sengun is the best young player on the Houston Rockets. ["Nope."] It’s an extremely positive development that we’re long past the point of this being a debate. Unless someone comes and takes that title from him, Sengun looks poised to be Houston’s long-term franchise centerpiece. Few people saw this coming when Sengun was drafted, but that’s kind of the point of having as many first round picks as the Rockets have had these past three years. They wanted to collect as many scratch off tickets as they could until they struck gold on a player of his caliber. Now that they have Sengun, the next logical move for the Rockets is to look for a co-star will help him shepherd this team into true championship contention whenever he enter his prime. Fortunately for the Rockets, five of their other scratch-off tickets remain extremely promising. This means Houston may not have to venture outside the roster to find that eventual co-star. And that’s kind of what we’re going to explore today. Today, I’m ranking and analyzing all the possible Sengun co-star options available to the Rockets from this point forward.
