Why can't Jabari defend AD alone? Is that a real question?

    AD: 6'10" 253lbs.
    ------------------------------
    Jabari Smith: 6'11" 220lbs
    Alperen Şengün: 6'11" 243lbs

In theory, Jabari being the defensive specialist have the height to defend AD. The problem is his frame. AD's added 33 lbs of muscle over Jabari pushes him out of position. When Jabari is 240lbs and Sengun is 263lbs adding 20lbs muscle into their frames, we will NOT talk about that stuff anymore. AD is not the only one bullies Jabari under the rim! Somebody needs to feed them kababs twice a day every day.

Completely agreed. I also feel confident that Amen will be that 1st or 2nd option. Brooks and Fred give us time to develop the future core trio of Sengun, Amen and Smith. Complement them with some snipers on the wings and we will be great.

That is a factor when they go up for rebounds. In that position as an offensive player carrying the ball, it is a non-factor. Matter of fact, the defensive player has the advantage because he can extend his arms out.

There are a handful of players in the world that almost no one can defend one on one. Anthony Davis is one of those few. Jabari in a few years maybe. But no one currently on the team can defend Anthony Davis 1v1.

Only Giannis I think can defend AD 1v1 right now. Maybe Bam Adebayo on a good day. Embiid is too slow.

Tonight is an example of why I love Jabari and why I think he will be a massive part of our core. Even though he didn’t get many shots, he dominated the boards (18 rebounds) and played great D.

People criticize Ime for not using him more but what these people are missing is that if if there's a guy who is giving you 20/10/5 every night with high efficiency you give him the ball. That's instinctual. People bow down to the better people in life and let them guide them Ofc Jabari can make 3s and hit midrange but if you are a pg and you know that even if Sengun doesn't score he'll find the open man meaning he's the optimal option to make things better for the team you pass him the ball. Obviously he needs to put up more than 4 shots but more than 10-12 (consistently) isn't an option because as much as he's fairly good at what he does he's limited and can't create for others. We need to put him in a position where he gets the ball he should do nothing but shoot the ball. If he dribbles he'll lose, he can't distribute, dish it consistently so obviously he will be used as a spot up shooter and he can excel at that role i can see that but if you can't create your own shot, can't dribble, can't pass OF COURSE you will not be the 1st and 2nd option.

That being said he had a great game. 8.5/10.

DOG!!! I love guys who do whatever they can…contribute whatever they got to get a win. Such an easy guy to root for. 18 mother falcon rebounds.

You really do need a big man like the one he’s going to be even if all he does is get grown man strength. Look at the long careers of guys like Bosh, Horford, or Aldridge. Having that size, having those intangibles, and being a good shooter as a 6’10” + guy just makes your value explode in the NBA.

Even though Sengun is the best player right now, I’d actually bet Jabari makes more money over his career assuming both stay healthy.

And if he actually improves his game offensively then the sky is the limit.

Winning players find a way to impact the game without having the score all the time. This is nothing but great for his development when you’re not just one dimensional and useless when you dont have the ball in your hands to just score

Already puts him ahead of one certain other player on the team, I would say.

Can become a rebounding king if he doesn't box out.

LOVE to see this hyper leap from him. Jalen needs you Bari as his Robin.

Horford is a 3 times all-star who never averaged 20ppg in a season (and I think only twice went over 15ppg). As you say, guys who do the little things (apart from scoring!) can certainly make the all-star game.

It's worth noting that none of Bosh, Aldridge or Horford have Smith's agility and ability to move laterally and guard the perimeter. There is something unique about his switchability. As he ages, he'll naturally add some strength, it would be nice if he could keep the lateral movement too. But just based on his ability to play that 4, stick the 3, rebound and play defence, I think you're right, he'll make a lot of money!

I want to know what his excuse is for not rebounding like that a lot more often. The switch in his intensity on the boards made him unrecognizable to me as the Jabari I've grown accustom to watching.
