    That's a good call I really haven't

What I saw was a poster screaming free speech over everything and cancel culture is evil trash or whatever over the last few years now making a title with presidents of colleges needing to be fired for their responses to student speech. It just screamed "Free speech for things I agree with and cancel the stuff I don't agree with" Y'know?

But perhaps this situation truly is more nuanced and... context-specific.

You clearly understood nothing. And read nothing. Good way to embarrass yourself.

Probably a nothingburger, a r****ded topic, and not worth reading anything about it. Free speech. Yay.

I didn't read much into the specifics of what exactly happened on campuses, as far as the OP post goes it's asked seemingly as a theoretical question so I responded as such, and in particular I was responding to the Drake meme for the most part.

Understood nothing, maybe? I'm feeling a sense of hypocrisy (across the board, but loudly within a particular group) on this subject(as a whole, not just these colleges). A lot of the free speech absolutist, F cancel culture types are getting really offended and cancel culture-y as of late.

Some who've previously found the subject of free speech to be simple are now finding it more complex, and vice versa.

I respect freedom of speech, and I also respect democracy, if a lot of people take issue with the president's stances/lack of action on the issue, they're free to do so and the colleges will react however they choose. It's just some of the sudden changes in tones I find interesting.

It is not a freedom of speech issue, but a matter of bullying and harassment that is sanctionable at these universities, but the universities choose to not apply their own rules when it comes to Jews.

Just swap out the affected group:

If someone were to shout "Death to all gays" or "Death to all Blacks" - the same university presidents would not tolerate it for a second.

They were asked a simple question - "is calling for the genocide of all Jews bullying and harassment", and they smirked and said "it depends on the context" or, worse, "only if the call turns into action" (WTF??).

And if you looked at some of the actual harassment Jewish students have had to endure on the campuses of these schools, you would not have come in here so smugly.

In general, you would be better advised to actually inform yourself about a topic before coming in like a smartass.

    Saves you the embarrassment.

These university presidents will all be forced to resign, and rightly so.

I didn't reply to any harassed students, I replied to a Drake meme. You can use a bunch of words like smartass, smug, and embarrassed to paint whatever pictures suits you best. Again, a very sudden switch in tone, almost a yearning to be offended.

The interesting part here is this topic
So if students chanted all in the exact same manner - deaths to Gays, Blacks, Muslims, Jews, these specific universities would take action against all but the Jews, is the claim?

That is hard to believe, I'll give you that. Is there any proof of this? What incentive do you think the universities have to make a special exception in policy for Jews? They are all racist against just Jews?

I find it hard to read the thread with the walls of tweets. If that's how you curate your news that's fine but I view most tweets as YouTube comment-level material, below clutchfan comments and bathroom stall scribble in many cases.

Is there proof that these specific colleges would act differently in an identical scenario with only a different group of people? If so that's crazy!
