So much for the young conservative leadership. It's been replaced by mtg, boobert, donalds, luna, gaetz and jordan...
House seats are 2 year terms. Resigning early is freaking ridiculous. If it is for his health or family reasons, I could understand, but making your government waste money on a special election because you are an angry child, ugh.
McCarthy could be the poster child for how backing trump has ruined a political career. He was so desperate to support Trump even though he himself knew what was wrong and dangerous with Trump. He did so becaue he felt it was the only way for him to be speaker and have a legacy. He became speaker and his legacy now is that he was the weakest speaker ever and reviled by many of his fellow Republicans. He should be an object lesson for Lindsey Graham and others who should know better but back Trump out of the desire for power and relevance.
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" I'm sure the evangelicals will be there for him in his crucial time of need...
People should advocate for good government policy, regardless of whether it affects them personally. I'm sure there are ton of people who advocate for and vote based on specific policies for abortion or transgender rights or climate change who will never be affected by them. Should rich people advocate to get rid of the entire safety net because they'll never need it?
GOP senator to place hold on military promotions after Tuberville blockade Why does the GOP fight so freakin hard for the right to be racist? (It's really more of a rhetorical question because we already know the answer)
