They were down 15 and not many minutes left, you really think that is necessary especially when Udoka is gone......

AD passes to DeAngelo Russell for a 3.

Mofo is just frustrated at himself, that is it and needed some sort of minor scapegoat.

Always piling on the talented foreigner.....

Naturally, when someone don’t understand something they get bored. Its like teaching Chemistry to a 5yr old.

I don't know if you played Sports or not but I was taught to play every minute like the game is tied. That is how you build GOOD HABITS.

Yes. Alpe needs to slide over on the double team way earlier. The reason is that you want to force AD toward the sideline so that he either turns it over or takes a bad shot. Because Alpe rotated late, AD got an angle and forced Smith to foul.

Now in Alpe’s defense, he may have thought that by sliding over to quickly that he would open a driving lane that AD could exploit with a quick pass over the top to a cutting man. However because of the position of AD basically behind the backboard, that would be an extremely difficult play. Also, another person needs to know to rotate over when Alpe slides so that they can cut off the passing lane.

    On defense, communication is key.

Well, I very much doubt your sports over in North America, you play smart, like when people fronted Yao, that takes skills and deception and not playing hard or throwing tantrums.....

Seriously, Bari is going to be a good defender but a good communicator he is not, and I do not buy any of his fake tough guy shet.....

That play you have to pump your chest and say that was on me and not bark Alpe Alpe Alpe omg Alpe.....

That is biatchy 3x, the word Udoka got tossed for.

If Alpe indeed should have doubled earlier, Sullivan should be the guy to address it and not some sophomore.

One thing I can report from having watched a ton of soccer and having been around a lot of world class soccer players is that the opposing team also picks up on it when a team's players are b****ing at each other. It's usually not a good sign.

You are right! Alpi was suppose to rotate in that situation and the next man was suppose to cover the passing lane.

To me, it has always been about the players on the court. Coaching only goes so far. Why do you think the Rockets brought in veterans? To teach the young players how to play, where to be on the court and how to close out the 4th qtr, especially the last 5 mins. All of those are important in any sport.

You can not be lazy in the last minutes of games. I have seen teams come back from 10pts down with under a minute to play.....REMEMBER, T-MAC'S 13PTS IN 35 SECONDS?

That lazy spirit is hard to break!

Didn't you watch the Lakers vs Suns......Lakers have Austin Reaves to take big shots......so if AD does not take it, it is usually Austin Reaves or LBJ.

You do think a late game double team is going to stop them or AD.....lmao....you cannot be boring and naive.

This thread is almost as funny as the Jalen Green ones.

Once again, you never know what's going to happen in SPORTS! You always, always play until the end.

And in the case you are describing, I would clog the middle and force LBJ to take a jump shot. Also, Reeves had been struggling, so why not fall off from them and force the low percentage shot.

I know you are taking up for Alpi but like I said, its hard to teach an old dog new tricks.....Just like Harden's defense, you either have it or you don't

And once again, it might be true in the lower leagues but once you are at the top, professionalism and playing hard is basic requirement......

When your playbook fails and you do not have a playbook, you resort to going to basic moves.

I have not watched AD the last seasons, but in this season he had games where he scored only 9 or 10 points, you could go to the teams that held him to those 8 or 10 points.

Jabari is clearly the worse post defender in this clip, and you spin it like Sengün is a bad defender.....

Jabari is not in the right, no.

Sengun has Jabari's help towards the middle of the court, so Jabari needs to close off the baseline and push Davis towards that help. Sengun can't come over and hard double because Sengun is on a good 3 point shooter in Russell. So, Sengun has to wait until Davis attacks, gets pushed to the middle by Jabari, and then come over as Davis makes his move. That makes it a harder pass for Davis, and gives either Sengun or a teammate a chance to get back to Russell.

Just coming over immediately like Jabari seems to want would have been an easy short quick pass for a wide open 3 from one of the Lakers best 3 point shooters -- so, yes, Jabari is very much in the wrong. Not only is Jabari wanting Sengun to do something that would have been a bad mistake, Jabari also fails to cut off the baseline and doesn't push Davis into where the help is coming from.

I don't see how this is difficult. At this point in the game, we were doubling AD because he was killing us. Anyone other than Alpi guarding him probably has to trigger an auto double from the strong side so we can rotate and force AD to make a great pass weak side. Alpi missed his rotation and Jabari was on an island. I'm glad he still cared down 15 and without the coach, and Alpi will do it better next time. Everyone misses assignments, but I hate teams that don't hold each other accountable. Alpi is not going to cry about it, so no one should feel the need to save him on the internet. That's wild.

How can you double if you give up the whole other side of the court. Gotta push him to the middle...but easier said than done

One: Jabari is a twig who can't legally drink. He's pretty much a Mobley I hoped the cavs would get for their first years.
Two: Sengun probably could've rotated faster, but the entire team was getting roasted in the 4th from extra passes off the open man by the Lakers. I'm not going to rewatch that game, but there was obvious effort to hustle/adjust on coverage at the end, but you can't Play Harder when everyone either gave up their fight or Played Dumber.

It shouldn't have only been just Alpi and Jabari. If Alpi trusted the team defense more (deprogramming the Silas stink and learning better team coverage takes time), maybe he'd jump in instinctively to double up on AD for the quick throwaway.

I also think Jabari got frustrated with his own limitations and didn't like getting stuck on an island with AD. He probably thought "No way I can deny him the rim with my chicken legs" and projected that frustration on Sengun afterwards.

Word has it that in the locker room postgame Jabari punched Sengun in the chest but flew backwards 10 feet because he weighs 90 pounds

remember the time rockets press was asking each player who to cook for them (during thanksgiving i guess), everyone was having fun, except Jabari, who said with his mean low self esteem (lack of) character and said "not Alpi".. what a loser.
