This is a case where religion is secondary to power in the region - not to mention that in general, the powerful in the Middle East are not concerned about the life of death of those outside their borders.

There are Israeli companies in Saudi Arabia. Israel really wants strong relations with Saudi Arabia because of their power in the region - Saudi Arabia wants access to US weapons and Uranium capabilities.

Religion for the Saudi royal family is about as important as it is to lapsed Catholic or Secular Jew.

the dead baby "DoLl!" claims still ring. I can't imagine how abhorrent it is for some folks to delve into their ignorance to the point they don't know what rigor mortis and dead people looking like is. Facing their own ignorance is too much to the point they think that carpet bombing a region is going to necessitate needing to bring dolls.

For the parents that lose their kids to these bombs having to justify their dead children is too much and too disgusting. The Likud party boasts some of the most evil and vile men in history in Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, and the genocidal maniac Galant. I feel bad the Israeli people also have to suffer under them as well. Hopefully they are escorted out soon

There is no doubt these atrocities happened - because the investigation was done by Israel and that is now coming out in full. That's not what we are discussing. What we are discussing is why it took the UN to say anything and that's because they weren't allowed in.

And you ask for a source when all you do is use unverified Twitter posts to push your agenda? Give me a break. You better start posting actual sources for your claims from now on...

    https://www.reuters.com/world/middl...s-sexual-violence-appeal-evidence-2023-11-29/

Israel refusing visas was well reported over a month ago:

So how is it that Israel by it's own claim refused to cooperate with the UN on the investigation, does it own investigation, gets the results, releases it to the press, and then claims the UN didn't do anything????

Your original post seemed to claim that "the UN" wanted to do an investigation right after Oct. 7, but wasn't let in.

The dispute with the UN is about the UN wanting to do whatever many weeks after the rapes happened.

You can't collect evidence of sexual crimes many weeks after the rapes.

So your original claim was completely false.

I know it looks highly unlikely but I really am hoping for moderate leadership in Israel and Palestine.

Right now there are a lot of Jews and Muslims digging in their heels - but most Jews and Arabs want to prosper and live in peace.

So Israel can do its investigation many weeks later, but the UN can't?

It seems like you are trying to just find a way to attack the UN. If they weren't allowed in, and Israel explicitly said they will not cooperate with the UN, how is the UN suppose to do an investigation?

Dude everything I stated is backed by facts. You have nothing to support your position. If anyone is lying it's you. You are lying to yourself.

None of what you posted is backed by facts. Your initial premise was that "the UN wanted to collect evidence of sexual violence, but wasn't let in".

It's not possible to "collect evidence of sexual violence" a month after it happened.

Your implied undertone was that Israel was not telling the truth. That has been your entire embarrassing modus operandi on this thread. Blame the Jews.

Yes it is possible. That's what Israel did. They did the investigation themselves a month afterwards. You're just making stuff up.

Your accusations are completely reckless and have nothing behind them. Stop with the personal attacks and argue the facts. There's no need to questions anyone's motivations.

I have very little hope. As I just noted in another thread when I was in college more than 20 years ago there were the same issues then. Both sides are trapped in a cycle of violence where the extremists have a far greater say.

Again I will remind people that Yitzhak Rabin called it the “Peace of the Brave” and paid for trying to make peace when he was as assasinated by one of his own people.

The UN, through its UNRWA entity, have backed and supported Hamas terror against Israel systematically. The UN has passed more resolutions against Israel than against all other countries combined.

The UN must be dismantled in its current form.

The vast majority of Israelis want peace and support a 2 state solution. It's the extreme right that's hell bent on eliminating Palestinians from the west bank and gaza and it's clear they are the ones in power.

How can you have a "2 state solution" when one of the two states is governed by an entity that has no other goal than to eradicate the other state and kill all its people?

Most Palestinians would probably be fine with a two state solution where they have economic opportunities. Extremists like Hamas who still
Publicly call for the destruction of Israel make it hard from their side.

I believe this is true. There is a lot of anger at Israel and fair to say passionate hate. But at the end of the day, people will put their economic self-interest and quality of life over everything else. Many in Gaza were not happy with the attack on Israel as they knew Israel would respond in a way that would put their lives in jeopardy. When you have a family, your goal quickly changes.
