I disagree! I don't think Green is an ISO Player. This is why he is having such a hard time scoring this year. Before, he flourished with KPJ as the lead. People confused KPJ as being a ball hog, etc. but he was doing the brunt of the playmaking and setting up the other players, mainly Green. Making his job easier. And to me, I think once Thompson takes over the PG position, we will see Green flourish again. If you all notice, FVV gets most of his points on the perimeter, where Green likes to get his and an occasional drive to the basket. That mix is not working. I was listening to Frank on The Chop Shop Podcast and he made a good point about Jalen getting most of his points because of Sengun's presence; screen plays, pick and rolls, etc. because Jalen isn't getting separation. I think Jalen is the type of player where he has to be feed at this point, until he gets bigger or develops a better ISO game.
Martin was a 37-38% 3 point shooter and could score consistently, he is just not a Number 1 ....arguably not Number 2.
Y’all saying "give JG time under Udoka to improve as an all-around player" Fine. But if Cam Thomas is available why can’t HE improve under Udoka? Obviously, Thomas has flaws, but there is no question he’s a bucket. Green says he’s a bucket, but is he?
Green is a walking and living conundrum. Strange, quirky, inconsistent. When he is good, he is very good. When he is bad, he is very bad. I could see trading him depending on what you get in return.
Frank called out Stone to assemble a better roster... If Sengün goes out and he cannot carry the team by himself, then that is the problem.
Yes, we need a better roster and he state that and we both know Sengun is not a 2 - way player, so he can not carry this team. I've said before, I think he is Sabonis. He will need help and I don't want to be another Sacramento.
I was talking about Green though, if he is so heavily dependent on Alpe in the lineup. And the inability to multitask, and play with other players not named Alpe.
Please don't insult KMart like that. Kmart was a walking bucket when he played with us, just didn't do much else
Green is not a playmaker, he's a scorer....thats it. His game is basic thats why he is having problems. We are missing KPJ at the moment. I think Green will flourish with Thompson when he gets back and in rhythm
KMart was a bucket when KMart was a bucket. When games got physical he was invisible. He averaged around 20 ppg. Sounding familiar to me.
I would expect a guy who is "a scorer" to find his way to the basket during crunch time or have a reliable outside shot. He can get there, but the eye test is just rough recently. We aren't missing KPJ because Fred is a playmaker and Sengun certainly is and they make far less boneheaded plays. Fred & Sengun also gel a lot. . I think it's more cogent to say Green hasn't found when and how to make an impact. Though, like Kevin Martin of old, he somehow averages 20 points by putting up 30 against the Charlottes and Memphises of the world.
The difference is KPJ made plays in the paint, FVV because of his height is making plays further away from the basket. Basketball is a finite sport. The least little thing can throw off a player's game and isnt a coincidence that Jalen had his best game, when FVV was out. He had an all - around game.
Kmart averaged 20 PPG on TS 60% in his third season in 2004. I will pray to the Lord is Green ever gets to that efficiency
About the same. But, how any of us "feel" is largely irrelevant except for entertainment. The coach and management will decide.
Giving Jalen the ball and saying go to work isn't working, he has nothing other than 1 speed, if he is hitting his 3s he is deadly, but at this point he is a microwave a Gerald Green, someone you put in the game and when they are rolling you ride them when not, you take them out. Also, People can now see why some of us liked what KPJ did for the team and were willing to overlook his past. We miss his pressure on the basket big time....IMHO he would be either blowing up with the 2nd unit or starting at SG right now......but alas, he is in court and we have to wait to see the outcome......and he goes somewhere else. DD
Lol… yall need to take a chill pill. Green’s been fine. The entire teams been fine. Seriously, did you expect JaGreen to be Kobe Bryant this year and the team to contend for a championship. I think the Rockets are so far meeting the expectations of most realistic fans. Its a young team learning a new system and culture and so far we have seen excellent results along with some growing pains. Overall the team plays hard, they play together, and they dont quit. Any sensible Rockets’ fan has to be thrilled with the results so far.
I disagree. Jalen Green has been played well overall. He’s had some bad games where he seems a bit lost but even in the games he doesn’t shoot well he contributes and doesn’t pout. The dude is 21 years old. He’s still very thin and needs to bulk up. I think Ime is going to push him hard and his efficiency will go up as the season progresses. Comparing him to Gerald Green is laughable. GG’s court awareness was non existent. Jalen is already light years ahead of him in most categories.
Yawn..... You've clearly made up your mind and I haven't. I don't really feel like the Rockets have one of the better starting 5 lineups DESPITE Jalen Green. It's not really ground breaking or enlightening to show that when Green plays well we are more likely to win....
