I think Green is very mentally unsure the last few years. For the first time in his life, he is not able to just dominate off of athletic ability. I diagnosed it like this, because when he is just not thinking and shooting(think his proficiency at end of clock situations) he looks good. aggregate that with the fact that he is still pretty physically underdeveloped AND expanding more effort than ever on D…. And new coaching…. so you see some of the unevenness that makes it seem like there has been no offensive progress this year compared to the last couple seasons. Generally though, just from my eyeballs watching each and every minute he has played I think that there has been some steady improvement. I think that we will see major strides when we look back at the end of the season. HeyP said something the other day that I think is super relevant about green developing a go to shot. some of his drives to the rim are breathtaking, but they never look similar, and the degree of difficulty is always just too high. He really doesn’t have a go to shot or form. and whoever mentioned in this thread, continuing to do a better job, looking for him on the law, I think that is absolutely something that we have not seen up until frankly this last game. I am content with letting him play out his fourth season, and then allowing the league to put a price on his market. Maybe by that time, he has earned the contract or maybe by that time it is clear that we don’t want to overpay with somebody else will give him. We have Whitmore waiting in the wings.. not to mention Amen. Amen may end up at pg but could always end up as a shooting guard, if he played next to a certain type of point guard. Frankly very much FVV. Maybe in 2025-2026 our lineup is Alpi Smith Cam Amen FVV
Yeah, but the entire bench was a positive as well. Just don't think ive seen this before in a wire to wire win where every other player is a +. It would make sense if the bench guys he was playing with were negative, but the bench guys were also positive, and so were the starters. He was the only player that was a +0.
Tbh I'm not sure either a d I don't have time resources and knowledge to do a deep dive. Regardless he played really last game and we Def couldn't have won it if he didn't play like he did. One thing I notice with analytics is they take the human part out of the equation. Jalen serves a vital in our team as the primary premier threat and volume scorer, even on night's where he isn't that efficient the coach still plays him because he is someone opponents always pay attention to and the Rox need someone who can just put up shots. As we have seen when he was absent dealing with a toe infection even with Sengun and Bari playing well the Rox still struggled when he was gone.
If you give Udoka Eric Gordon, CWood instead of Dillon and Fred, Jeff Green.... You can see what Jalen would be able to do or not.....as a primary premier threat as you put it. Because all the defensive safety nets are gone.... Ego and Wood can score so the scoring would not be missed.... It is who is he playing with type of scenario..... With Green it is, a lot of other players can score and be a net positive....while Green has to learn it the hard way. Ime and the defensive players are slowly having a good impact on him.
I don't really get your point. Eric Gordon is an almost star level player at his peak he is better than current 21 yr old Jalen Green. Having defensive safety nets are important but having scoring threats are also important. You need both to succeed.
Green is not a max player, he is a complimentary piece, teams that pay complimentary pieces max money end up being the Wizards or Bulls.... It will be interesting to see how this goes when Sengun gets the max and Jalen does not. DD
Serious question. Why do you set yourself up for future criticism? I mean, I am not asking you to change your opinions, but the way you express them? If you wrote it like I corrected, you would save yourself from a lot of future ridicule.
I've seen similar "anomalies" in our single game +/-. I've posted a couple of them in the Alpi thread. It just highlights how useless the +/- stat is for player assessment, especially on a singular game basis.
i dont even think hes that Im not sure whos game is complimented by a score first guard who cant play make or defend at an elite or even above average level. I would trade him for a good role player and then trade whatever assets we have left for a true superstar when the fvv contract expires
Jalen is a front running b****, he is just not a winner or someone you can build around, trade him now he is not a winning player. DD
