There's a conventioanl wisdom perception that victims in DV cases subsequently recant quite a bit , for obvious reasons. Some experts put the percentage as high as 70% of the time. It's not unrerasonable to believe that the subsequent recant is not particularly credible in a DV case, with no personal knowledge of the situation. 70% things happen a lot. Even if that's a high estimate, maybe it's just 35 or so. That's still a lot. I mean, you posit as if you know exactly "the level" to which he beat her up - what was it then?

What some of you guys are completely ignoring is how the responding police officers practically planted evidence via a faulty and inaccurate victim statement. The lady came out with an OFFICIAL statement via her lawyer a few days after the incident. Nothing has changed from what she released early and her latest interview. The only irregularities have come on the side of the Manhattan PD and DA. Surprised that isnt more of a point of emphasis, but hey that would be inconvenient. Burden of proof is nonexistent and the crooked police/DA are now offering plea bargains. I'd guess in order for there to be a "recant" or switching of stories a completely different statement should exist that shows the flip right? Her story has been the same one from the beginning. Her very words say that the details the police released were incorrect and subsequently proven incorrect, but still here we are with hasty generalisations. Yes Sam I agree. Domestic violence is horrible and often victims are trapped in a cycle of abuse. This is not one of those crusader moments based exclusively on the statement the "victim" has released. You cant accuse someone of something YOU feel happened without corroborating evidence that is not how our system works. You can morally bankrupt him in the court of public opinion as has happened and that is all fine and within your right. Have you watched her 42 minute interview?

When the origianl complaint was filed - it was based on her statemetns to the officers on scene. Gondrezick told police that Porter punched her repeatedly in the face with a closed fist, causing an inches-long gash above the right eye, bruising and substantial pain to her face. Gondrezick, 26, said Porter also wrapped his hands around her neck and strangled her, causing her to have difficulty breathing, redness and bruising to her neck, and loss of motion to her left arm. Hospital testing showed that Gondrezick sustained a fracture to one of the vertebrae in her neck, the criminal complaint said. She has since recanted by saying none of this stuff happened at all. Unfortunately the indictment/criminal complaint s not public, or at least I can't find it - but her statement is likely accompanied by a sworn affidavit by the officer that says "she said all these things. An alternative view is that "KPJ was framed" and that she never said any of these things - seems to be the tack that is being taken. I just find that far less likely than the "recant" angle. NYPD and DA have a checkered past, but w/r/t something like this? Seems like an unlikely frame job.
I know its long, but its really not worth going forward until everyone who chimes in has seen this and can have an open mind to THIS CASE without allowing post hoc arguments to be derived from a hivemind that we all are in agreement with - DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS BAD.

And KPJ himself was not eager to say anything........which was an indicator something really happened or he was that drunk or intoxicated that he could not remember....... He is also numb to all his actions - see the things in Cleveland, he also was not commenting on but a lot of that happened. The Judge whom this case was presented.......told KPJ specifically to stay away from the missus and he should have just walked away.....to which KPJ seemed to have said nothing as well.
