I am thankful everyday that the Warriors were "wise" enough to draft Wiseman rather than LeMelo Ball after they tanked the season.
We are back to the 'Rockets are interested in anyone that is in the NBA and not on DV/Rape/Under age girl charges'.
I wouldn’t trade for Wiseman unless we need someone in practices for Jabari to torch like in Summer League - maybe if Jabari loses confidence?
If they drafted LaMelo, would he be doing what he's doing right now with Steph & Klay in his way? Could see him having his development screwed up and becoming a disgruntled 6th man like Poole was.
Klay was out for a whole season. He would have plenty of PT. I understand that it was a fit thing. They needed a big man more than another guard. But that's just why you always pick the BPA rather than for need, especially that high in the draft. You worry about fit later. Even if it turned out to be a logjam at the guard positions, they could trade LaMelo for much more than they did Wiseman. It's almost like taking Darko over Melo.
I mean, obviously I agree completely, you take the BPA, and LaMelo would have been better for them than Wiseman. I'm just skeptical that he would be on the same trajectory with GSW. Obviously is a guy who needs the ball in his hands a lot.
This is so wrong that it is almost funny. Wiseman is a level ahead of Jock in every metric. Clutch mentioned a 5-37 record, but to put that on a young inexperienced Wiseman and not mention the Warriors record while he was there is no different than blaming Tari Eason for the horrific record during the Silas years. If we were to get Wiseman on the cheap, we would significantly strengthen our biggest weakness which is size and athleticism at the center position.
Which is why it would have worked because both Klay/Steph are dangerous coming off screens which Lamelo would distribute, sort of like what CP3 is doing but a younger and bigger version at that They definitely needed a big and should of used that pick and whatever else asset to go get a big like KAT etc
I don't disagree. The thing is, Curry can play off ball. It would be interesting to see a playmaker rather than a shooter playing next to him.
It's called the eye test buddy...Landale can't score in the paint, not an interior defensive threat at all, he's a mediocre rebounder...With the money we paid him, we'll be lucky to have a trade suitor. At least with Wiseman, he's athletic enough to be a good rim protector, plus we have The Dream who can work with his offensive game. His ceiling is much higher than Landale.
Should have picked up Biyombo. But yeah, when people call Green or Bari a bust they need to look at Wiseman and see that's what a real bust looks like.
Eye test? Your post tells me you haven't even seen the dude play. First of all Wiseman couldn't even beat Bagley and Isiah Stewart for the 2nd backup C role on the Pistons, that's how had he is. Jock Landale has been a scrub but pretty sure he has more between the ears than Wiseman who still has zero clue to this day how to play at an NBA level. Secondly Landale's contract is unguaranteed, so nah Rox can find lots of trade partners for Landale. Pretty sure 21M over 3 yrs in expiring money is an asset for multiple teams. Third, did you even check Wiseman' s advanced stats? Wiseman has never been a defensive presence anytime his entire career. If we get him, it will be to backup Sengun so why would we waste resources developing a backup? If we got budget to have dream work on someone, it should be either Sengun, Bari or Tari or even Green, not Wiseman. Backups should be instant impact guys not project you still need to develop.
Warriors selected James Wiseman over LaMelo Ball, the Warriors Title Window really shortened just by selecting James Wiseman.
Why start a new thread to highlight your absolutely idiotic idea? Wiseman is NOT a backup C. Wiseman is a borderline G league player and a project. Stewart would be a much better get to bring in some physicality. However, with Wemby in our conference, undersized Cs will not be a good look for us, unless someone like Williams comes in and is able to really body him up and use his length. However, I am confident that Williams wasn't as fantastic as much as Ime's coaching was, so I am patient enough to wait to let Ime handpick who he wants and to see if he can get Landale into his wavelength.
How would we get better? You're aware that Wiseman can't crack the rotation in *Detroit*. Jock played playoff minutes for Phoenix and some people thought he was better than Ayton at times. He had an ankle injury and is struggling to figure out his place in this system. Getting Wiseman for a few second rounders is the equivalent of just lighting those picks on fire. Let's just go get Christian Wood while we're at it.
