What is adding to the confusion is the hair. Sengun has a pretty healthy head of hair. What we don’t know is where the skull actually begins. I think we can all agree that the hair shouldn’t count towards the overall height. Big hair can make people appear taller than they actually are. Many short politicians, actors, and entertainers like to fluff up their hair to add to their height. Is Sengun a hair fluffer? I honestly don’t know.
There are about 3 thousands of 7+ footers in the world. Most of the 7 fters in the league are actually bw 6'10-6'11.
Do you really believe anyone measuring height for NBA players stops the bar at the top of their hair instead of pushing it to their head? That would easily make some of the guards with freeform dreads 7' tall.
I think it's the hair but also, as I keep saying he has an elongated neck as well. If you take into account his hair and his elongated neck, he is probably closer to 6'9. Jabari is a true 6'11
While standing reach is important, I wouldn't underestimate "long neck" dudes. Still valuable for seeing the court and seeing the basket over shot contests.
A lot of clutchfans are looking at pictures of Sengun and making judgements of his height. Others are commenting how he compares standing next to other players. These are probably not the best ways to estimate height. Hairstyles can definitely be a factor in some people’s perception of height.
Jabari is leaning over, Sengun is straight and there isnt much difference in 2 inches when you consider Sengun's hair and neck length. I think the biggest difference is their arm length
