I do not get why he needs to be viewed as a playmaker playing the wing....lmao...like everyone is a Thompson Twin. All he needs is a tighter handle to finish strong and make the swing pass from side to side. And set screens and shoot the corner 3.
Plenty of good players have developed on good teams too....And Jalen didn't look this good in the Gleague when he was playing there at 19. DD
Until Cam gets 25/25s like Isiah Hartenstein I'm not saying he needs to play. He is only 19 we are loaded at the forward spots with Brooks, Jabari, Tari, Unc Green and Tate. He can probably compete with Amen to get that backup sg spot behind Green.
I've watched Cam play a lot in tape from college, summer league, preseason. I'm not sure he will end up being a 6th man type, it's just a hunch. I could definitely be wrong and I'm happy to give him a fair shake.
It all depends if he is made for the big stage .... 4th Quarters and Play In, Playoffs. This stuff you cannot simulate......you can be clutch and start out as the 6th man Harden or Manu style.
Yes... No shame in being an elite 6th man. Ego was a key player his first few years with us too. Come to think of it, I see a little Eric Gordon in Cam's game. A bigger EG would be a great player.
Our defense seems somewhat ok <insert Scola gif>. Imagine if we can work Cam and Amen into the rotation in the next 30 games or so.
Cam Whitmore was forced to play with his offhand much of his freshman year at Villanova? I think that this hurt his ability to pass effectively. Also if I remember right the Villanova offense statistically does not not generate a ton of assists. compound these things with the fact that at the college level, yes, he did have quite a bit of tunnel vision. he would have to be KPJ level stupid to not realize that he hast to learn to be an effective passer in the pros to get to where he wants to go. His overall performance so far is super encouraging. whether it is this season or next, our roster really needs a high efficiency, scorer and shooter anyway that can get to the rim.
They call him Camilo in McAllen Tx. He’s constantly listening to Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma. He’s a changed man.
Encouraging to see him making the easy passes in transition now. Even that drive/kick, easily could've been another. I see him taking the steps though, quickly too. He's showing us a consistent 3 ball. That puts defenders in quite the spot, play up and let him truck his way to the rim? Or play off and let him rain 3s? The answer will be help defense, which is why the drive/kick is so nice to see. He's got gravity if the 3 is real. The initial defender will play up to keep him from shooting open 3s, so he'll drive and draw the help. If he learns how to use that against a defense, woof. He's got easy range too, I can see the big setting that pick beyond the 3 line and Cam absolutely dusting the initial defender. The help defender is going to have to outright abandon his assignment. If Cam recognizes this, if this is his progression, he'll flat out be an allstar. ::breathe:: Baby steps. Just keep this up, good shooting, good defense and making the right passes as they come.
It seems clear the team gave him the task to work on passing and moving the ball in the G League and he seems like he's 100% in with that task.
Cam got that face where he always looks like he's mad so people think he has a bad attitude, lol Cam looks like he is taking the g-league assignment well. rooting for you, cam even though you're cursed by DD. That DD curse is real. the more DD glazing, the harder for Cam to break out I fear.
