Whenever I see the word “archetype” in an Alperen conversation… Try to fit Charles Barkley or Dirk Nowitzki or Larry Bird into your “archetype”…
Not just the fact that he dunks a lot, but also people underestimate body control/fluidity as a component of athleticism. Same reason I was and still am so high on Amen as well. Sengun is elite in this category.
It is funny I only see the "show ignored content" option when he has the rare so called "bad" game like Memphis.
Agree, I'm German and really like Dirk (although I hate the Mavs), and Sengun is a more creative and athletic player than Dirk. Now, if he can get Dirk's jumper, 3-point shot and free throw percentage, omg. That's why I thought he should practice with Holger Geschwindner, Dirk's coach (may be too old now).
"but 'the fromt office' considers him the worst pick and roll defender in the league" "not worth the trouble" "I like him, but would you not trade him for [insert random draftee]"
All the crap about his defense appears to have come from an utterly clueless coach looking for any excuse to keep him down.
Dirks lack of athleticism was mitigated by being the best shooting big in NBA history. You really think Alp will get to those loft standards?
These are historical numbers the kid is putting up at his age. And clearly, that's not even his ceiling yet, he can improve more. Rockets fans should be ecstatic. And we STILL have (some very relevant) members of the Rockets' fan base saying stuff like "he is just meat and potatoes", "I heard the 'front office' thinks he is the worst pick and roll defender in the league", "he is too short", "bUt arCHetYpE !1!!?!", "not worth the trouble", "nope, not the best player", "bUt GrEEn hAs a hiGHeR cEiLInG", "Jabari at the 5, that's the way", etc. Some people would rather never admit they were wrong for 2 years than just enjoy the ride with their franchise player, a unique phenom. Yes, the last three drafts produced a once-in-a-generation talent. His name is not Victor, though. His name is Alperen. Alperen Sengun.
