I’m not going to try to disentangle all of the cause and effect at play. Islamic extremism and radicalization and how it has emerged politically in places over the last century is a complicated subject. This notion that Israel’s occupation in the West Bank is only about responding to the threat of radical Islamists really seems to me to be naive and historically ignorant. There have long been influential factions within Israel that claim all of the West Bank to be rightly theirs.
