I'm no military expert but strategically I don't think it's smart to announce this prior to the killification part.

Agreed. But I wouldn't expect anything different from Hamas. Of course, for Hamas, they will see it as justification for everything they've done. Again, that's why it's good to for other governments to take care of the issue and remove that weapon from Hamas' arsenal before they could use it.
The Israeli propaganda machine is losing and its followers are getting increasingly desperate. It used to be just enough to silence any criticism by calling folks, anti-semites or "self hating" Jews so they are having to employ increasingly ridiculous tactics. See ATW, Tinman etc. More and more mainstream sources see them as committing. "ethnic cleansing" and Apartheid clearly specified crimes against humanity.
