Brooklyn pick at #9 if the draft were held today. I don’t want to draft anyone in 2024, but I do want to see that pick become a big time asset in a trade.
Exactly. I doubt they use the pick. butttt the only way i think they do is if it's for a defensive front court player. giving the rockets great versatility. When Sengun is on the bench then you could have Amen in for all of those minutes.
I will not mind if we use the draft pick. I tend to agree with you guys that we won’t want to look at a Center. I personally think that Brooklyn is on the verge of having to blow it up, regardless if we own their future or not. them riding out being a 500 club because they don’t on their draft picks is not the only reality for them. They can trade bridges and Claxton for younger players that may not be as good but have higher ceilings or other teams picks. I still feel like we are going to get multiple lottery picks out of the next four years or consolidate them into something pretty valuable. meanwhile, it looks like the pics that we owe to Oklahoma City will probably be between 15 and 20. So the gamble that Stone made their looks pretty likely to work out.
If our current roster holds. I agree. But the Oladipo contract tells me they want to make a trade. A big one if they can and that might mean shipping off some guys. If ship off a bunch of young talent, we might want that pick.
If the nets pick is not in the top 5, by the end of the year I would trade it for a 2025 pick in hopes it could be a top pick.
I don't know about not using the pick... There are a lot of big guys in the lotto this year. Might be worth taking one of them as our backup 5? (or project 5?) Someone like Kel'el Ware can provide rim protection, finishing and 3pt shooting in a 7 foot frame. Definitely has some liabilities, but an example of what might be available mid first round.
The problem is he's not exactly known for 3-point shooting and he hasn't exactly been "good" against good competition, plus, I'm not sure he's really dominating inferior teams yet. His rebounding seems to be "ok", but could just be a result of the teams he's played so far. The dude's been a mystery ever since it looked like he either underachieved or was misused at Oregon. He was heralded coming out of high school, but I'm not sure he's done too many favors for himself since. He's definitely worth a watch, I guess. I've been wrong about Lively (sorta), Duren (definitely), and Walker Kessler (sorta), so I'm staying out of the big man argument outside of maybe one, and that's Alexandre Sarr, but unless we get lucky in the lottery, he may be a tough get, and I'm not even sure about him as a center early on. A lot of these other dudes look a bit sluggish/barely coordinated enough or beanpoles.
I mean, it seems like we will have upwards of $25 million worth of Room. I know that we have to save some for young players to be determined but you might be able to just deal that lottery pick at some point for young center that already has some pro development and is OK coming off the bench.
I'm not sure who that would be, but unless this is some lottery pick, I'd rather trade for a somewhat-established player, too. I don't know what it would take.
I'm with you - but mid-first round isn't exactly the area where you're guaranteed a hit. Take a swing, worst case we can still roll with Jock as backup 5, so we have time on our side!
Kentucky's Aaron Bradshaw or Duke's Kyle Filipowski maybe? Both 7 footers with shot blocking presence.
Basically the Nets are a Play In team at their best......so we should hope they miss it by a few games.
I don’t see the opportunity for a big time trade this year or the need. It would have to be for a SG since that is the only place we could even be contemplating a change. Trading for more bench strength makes since, but nothing major. If they are committed to Jalen who else would sit if, say, they traded for Bridges?
