I agree. Jalen was a blank slate coming into the league. He was begging for coaching and he got a trash coach. Look at the young spurs, yes they are trash, but pop taught them fundamentals while they were losing. Jalen's BBall IQ is not good, so he has to learn this stuff we think should be innate. once Jalen learns what he should be doing, he will be thinking less and just hoop.
I could not disagree more. Jalen has had plenty opportunities to show more...he's shown less. I do not believe the Rockets brought Udoka in to cater to Jalen. I think either Jalen will fit and produce on an Udoka-coached team or he'll be moved. We can't keep blaming coaches for his struggles. First it's Silas' fault for not developing him....now it's Udoka's fault for not using him right.
i'm not seeing the dawg mentality in jg pretty boy doesn't like to get dirty no physicality questioning his drive we're stuck at least for a while with him win or lose need to find some flex minutes for cam at the 2
I agree with most of his critics at the moment. I'm glad we will have a full season to see him grow before making decisions.
We will undoubtedly pick up the 12.9 option in October of next year. So we really have close to two years and even then he becomes a RFA not UFA.
Lets see where we are at the end of the year. We are set for a couple of seasons with FVV, Brooks and Sengun, right? So given the circumstances and the roster I would use the 2nd year to see him more with bench line ups and bring the best of the other prospects to starter minutes. Eason/Amen/Whitmore could be more valuable to develop if Jalen fails to hit certain benchmarks by the end of the year and still ve valuable as a 2nd unit scoring dynamo
Yes he had the playmaking ability, was just stuck playing the classic late 90s “no-3 and D” to Vince’s heroball.
I would still take 3rd year McGrady over Green, especially due to size, but point is players take time to develop Year 3 McGrady v Green Green (Age 21) 18.0 PPG, 2.8 APG, 4.6 RPG, 0.5 Stl/G, 0.4 Blk/G, 2.3 TO/G 39.5 FG%, 35.4 3PT%, 78.1 FT%, 46.2 eFG% 102 ORtg, 112 DRtg 27.2 Usage %, 0.04 Wins Shares/48 McGrady (Age 20) 15.4 PPG, 3.3 APG, 6.3 RPG, 1.1 Stl/G, 1.9 Blk/G, 2.0 TO/G 45.1 FG%, 27.7 3PT%, 70.7 FT%, 46.0 eFG% 106 ORtg, 103 DRtg 24.3 Usage %, 0.13 Win Shares/48
Did TMac magically develop playmaking and scoring skills overnight moving to Orlando, or was his role as a slasher/option 2B on the Raptors limiting his output? Green has shown none of the defensive or playmaking abilities of early TMac. Green has also been coddled since day 1. You can’t just look at numbers and assume player A will end up like player B.
Tmac played with a Real Cousin named Vince Carter but they only found out that they are real Cousins very late..... Whereas Jalen Green called dry humper Josh Christopher and Kevin Porter his brehs and cousins.
