I would think Oregon beating a potential Top 3 Washington team in the Pac-12 Championship would bold really well for them.
It'd be great for them. I'd argue that a one-loss conference champion Texas' resume would be better than a one-loss Oregon: OOC Road win against Alabama (potential one-loss SEC champion) Ranked win against Kansas Neutral site loss to OU (worse than Oregon losing in Seattle) Win against ranked Kansas State Three total top-25 wins Oregon: Home win against a vastly-overrated Colorado team Road loss to Washington Road win against Utah (good win) TBD home game against Oregon State So Oregon might have the same number of top-25 wins as Texas, but one of those teams was overrated and cratered during the season while Texas' wins might all stay in the top 25. Our road win against Alabama should weigh more than Oregon beating Washington on a neutral field especially if Bama wins the SEC.
Seems like a slap on the wrist and I'm not hearing much chatter about Michigan having a fraud title if they win.
It's been like 2 weeks since it was discovered, the FBI is involved in investigating (suggesting possible criminal offenses coming), there was immense pressure by the other teams in conference to do something, and they already suspended the coach despite the investigation not being complete. The NCAA hasn't made their determinations yet or issued their punishments but that will certainly be coming. Like with the Astros, Harbaugh will almost certainly be forced to move on after the season and unlike Hinch, probably won't be allowed back into college football. There will also be consequences on the field with the head coach not being available for the 2 biggest games of their season. Why would there be any chatter about a hypothetical title that's nowhere near reality? And how is that comparable to the Astros where the players and manager admitted that it all happened, MLB had a multi-month independent investigation with a full report made public, and the team involved won an actual title?
Yep, that pretty much covers it. I'm proud of the B10 for doing something during the season. Fun hypothetical: replace Michigan with Georgia
If UM can weather the storm the next 3 games, Harbaugh is back on the sideline for the conference championship and potential CFP unless the NCAA steps in which is very unlikely given their timetables. An indefinite suspension would have been better suited IMO. My best guess is UM/Harbaugh part ways and UM self-imposes some slap on the wrist sanctions. The NCAA will vacate wins which means absolutely nothing to anyone.
11/21/23 25. Liberty 24. Clemson 23. Tulane 22. NC State 21. Tennessee 20. Oklahoma State 19. Kansas State 18. Notre Dame 17. Iowa 16. Oregon State 15. Arizona 14. LSU 13. Oklahoma 12. Ole Miss 11. Penn State 10. Louisville 9. Missouri 8. Alabama 7. Texas 6. Oregon 5. Florida State 4. Washington 3. Michigan 2. Ohio State 1. Georgia
Don't get Washington and Oregon being ranked so high. They've never beaten anyone other than other west coat schools that suck.
Uhhhnghuu (you're not wrong): Who has Florida State played? Eyball test: Oregon and Washington are both really, really good. So are Texas and Alabama. So are Michigan and Ohio State. So is Georgia. There's going to be 2+ teams left (since there's only 4) out who has a serious complaint.
Oregon is the only possible #4 seed that could cause Georgia to break a sweat in a 1-4 matchup. Georgia would nuclear blast UW, FSU or UT and easily handle Michigan or Ohio State. JJ McCarthy and Kyle McCord are too shaky.
It's terrible that FSU's QB is done. That changes everything for them. I disagree about everything you said about other teams competing with Georgia.
This would be a fantastic year for an 8 or 12 team playoff. The fact we could end up with 1 team from each of the B1G, SEC, B12, and PAC is pretty cool though.
